Noyes, P Plainer, R. Woodberry, R. Souza. Sites Committee s Basic assumptions Zoned densities of town won't change Kindergartens are left out of consiaeration. (on basis that they would be added to elementary schools if wanted. Then, the sites committee projects tha tt;e ultimate population will be 50,0`-'0 and t:ne total school population = 11,500 (6500 elementary and 4500 secondary school childre: ). Using 20aroom schools this means 12 eletary schools V 27 pupils pen room. The sites committee sug ests that 13 sites should be availaole in order to have a cushion. ELEMENTARY SCHOOL 4ITES we now nave 'i aaequabe school sites Fiske, Franklin, Grove St. , Harrington, llastings, Oak St. Hill, Reservoir 2 not quite adequate (expect them to oe used nonetheless. ) Parker, Adams we need 3 — sites committee is working on these. Centel school — The town owns tax—title land between Vinebroek Road, Vinebrook, ' which it will withhold fromdevelopment at the request of the Sites Committee for this purpose The laud is owned by the town, but we will have to pay '41500 to 0,000 for access easements. We have two sewer easements and a drainage easement and will need 2 pedestrian access easements and 1 driveway. This could be cleared up in time to request money at March T.r,. Building on that site would probably not be needed in immediate future. This school would replace Munroe and Hancock, which have been left out of consiaeration because they are inaueuute with 'respect to both buildings and sites, not capable of expansion. Near end of Reed St.— Large Leaa, herville Subdivision. Town owns at least 50Ts these small lots. Total area is 75 acres which could be broken up into 45 and 30 .cre tracts. Greeley requested that selectmen consider going into this under urban redevelopment, therefore taking the whole tract by eminent domain, replanning, and ondiug up with 50 or 60 saleable house lots in aaaition to a school site Tie town could make moae out 01 this. It is also possible to take only that area needed for a school site by eminent domain. Necn Yohurn line—Laconia St. & Ridge Road — The site has not been chosen yet. It would be about ial.way between Fiske and Maria Hastings. There is no cheap land in t.e area; site should cost about 00,000 The school is net needed until Bowser land is developed probably. Vie have also 1 potential site in tue 'Dillard property This should serve as cushion, but not be considered as replp.cement for one of the sites mentioned above — school not needed so .uch in this area and town might not be able to use it as school site while Miss Willard lives — necause of agreement when the ,property was acquires. SECu1TDf Y SCHOOL SITES — Thought the Sites Committee had thotgat of 1 large three—grade Jenior High School and 3 750—pupil, 3—grade Junior High schools, kr Bair' s new idea of a 2-2-2 system does not disturb their plans !much. If grades 9 through 12 are contained in the present high school and a school to ae built on the site of the dump, grades 7 and 3 can be contained in the two presently Junior Sigh dcnools. Tne- are designed for 750-800 pupils and the load might o as .ii..:h es 1,000 asuoils each It would be good to have a third possible site, again as 4 cushion. r• C L.0 2 November 30, 1959 Meeting with Mr Greeley, School Sites Committee =luzzey land— Mr Greeley suggests the possibilit) of buying some land behind Muzzey (other side of H.R. track) with pedestrian overpass or tunnel Assuming Muzzey will be used for 25 years, he feels that town should buy land in that area to serve school and to serve as recreation area. Other possibilities are eiLhe_ aduitional immix location for 7 and 8th grade school or replacement fo Muzzey The area below Pollen Hill (under option to Plandin0 Board for this yeas ) would serve this purpose. That and a recreation area for Muzzey St. school would solve secondary school sites problem. gra .es School population estimate land 8 9 and 10 11 and 12 1700 1500 1300 This town meeting, the sites committee hopes to come in with Clearing up access to Center site 83,040 at most Possibility of clearing up Meagherville Hope (but slightly discouraged) of Laconia site 430,000 ? Pollen Hill —School sites cormitee is noL involved in this purchase. Price —about 500 or 4600 per acre Muzzey — additional land $5,000 or 0.0,000 —may not be this T.M.
