Vine Brook shows increase in price and is spred over three years - or is a longer drain planned. C.E.C. Report discussion. Do we plan to separate Intra-town highways from the rest of public works budget? The committee decided to do so again. Therefore we should ask Mr Carroll to separate these items in his proposals RECR 1TI0N COMMITTEE BUDGET The letter from Mrs. Wanless, Oct. 17, 1959, outlining the proposals of the Lecreation Committee for the -next five years was discussed briefly The replacement of facilities lost by Worthen Road at a cost of $70,000 seemed a high figure. There was question of whether the tam track would actually be lost or whether the road woula be curved to avoid this. The committee would like to know the real line lorthen Road will take. It was suggested that we take up the items in the Recreation Budget with the Selectmen and ask hrs. Wanless to attend. The figures of $45,000 for a track and $15,000 for baseball field seemed high. Fire Department Budget - the question of a new fire station was touched upon but not discussed fully Two members were not completely convinced of the need. Report of the old committee to study the fire station need recommended that it not ae built at that time (1958) because it would acid $1,00 to tax rate and because of the question of maintenance. That report says it would take 9 men at $36,000 per year to man it. fliankiiikifi Mr Noyes felt that the sum requested $60,000 was a small sum in comparison with the P ,Y and School budgets. The committee will meet Dec 14 with Appropriation Committee We shall try to make the following appointments, Nov 23 with Mr Carroll, k ' .D. Dec. 7 with Selectmen, kr Carroll and Mrs Wanless, and Dec. 21 with School Committee
