Minutes
The Minutes of 11/17/99 were corrected as follows: Change item 7 on affordable housing by
deleting reference to recruiting black realtors as members of the Committee. Instead, add as a
committee priority working with real estate offices to include black realtors. Emphasize as part of
the Committee's affordable housing effort encouraging African Americans to live in Lexington in
both affordable and market rate housing.
Priorities
1 Affordable Housing: The Committee decided to initiate coalition building as part of its
( affordable housing goal by inviting Dick Scobie of Waltham WATCH to its February meeting.
He will be asked to present between 8 and 8:45 p.m. Steve will send out pertinent news
articles and materials from WATCH with the Minutes. Peg, Tom and Steve will met with Joe
Marino, the Town's Economic Development Officer He has had considerable awareness of
the town's affordable housing history as a member of the Planning Department.
2. Coalition building—Jed will research how to proceed.
3 Award giving—in conjunction with Fair Housing Month. Jed will bring in a proposal for the
Committee to consider
4 Including African American realtors in town's real estate offices. Peg will investigate.
No Place for Hate Campaign
Cathy Abbott will investigate how the Town might get involved. The campaign is a joint effort of
the Anti-Defamation League and the Mass. Municipal Association. See attached article from The
Beacon.
