Minutes of 10/28/98
The Minutes of 10/28/98 were approved subject to ratification where then is a quorum.
Diversity Brochure
1 Florence mentioned importance of presenting Lexington as a town which encourages
diversity
2. Dan suggested adding a reference to the town's affirmative action program.
3. Ralph saw need to prioritize what is important since there was a sense that the format
was too crowded. For example, instead of listing groups at high school, better to indicate
a single contact person.
4 Note changes to be made in "Diversity is our Heritage" wording to be found in previous
minutes.
5. Steve to contact Kathryn Davis to revise brochure.
Committee Membership
1 Steve to put ad in Minuteman.
2. Steve to contact Cambridgeport Bank
3. Cambridge Savings and Lexington Savings have not shown interest.
4 Ralph will contact real estate agents.
Affirmative Action
1 Ralph emphasized importance of having Rick White as a member of Affirmative Action
Working Group.
2. Dan suggested that the Fair Housing Committee send Rick White a letter congratulating
him on progress made and urging his inclusion on the Working Group
3. It was felt that having a Selectman would lend standing to the committee.
4 Steve Baran to inquire re availability of Gerri Weathers as nominee to Working Group.
Pot Luck Dinner
It was agreed that potluck dinner—dessert and finger food—would be featured at nest meeting
on December 16.
