HomeMy WebLinkAbout2024-09-27-VISION2025-min Town of Lexington Vision for Lexington Committee Meeting September 27, 2024 Remote Meeting 7:45 a.m. —9:00 a.m. Minutes Members Present: Sara del Nido Bush, Marian Cohen, Margaret Coppe, Andrew Dixon, John Giudice, Dan Joyner, Bhumip Khashnabish, Carol Marine, Shannon Murtagh, Catherine Yan, Min Zhou Absent: Jill Hai (Select Board), Larry Freeman (School Committee), Bob Peters (Planning Board), Ambilu Silvistri, The meeting was called to order: 7:50 am The Remote Meeting Script was read by Margaret Coppe Roll Call Vote: Bush, Aye; Cohen, Aye; Coppe, Aye; Dixon, Aye; Giudice, Aye; Joyner, Aye; Bhumip Khashnabish, Aye; Marine, Aye; Murtagh, Aye; Yan, Aye; Zhou, Aye Minutes: • The approval of minutes from August 23, 2024, as amended (spelling of Min Zhuo, Shannon Murtagh was not present) was moved by John Giudice and seconded by Catherine Yan. • Roll Call Vote: Bush, Aye; Cohen, Aye; Coppe, Aye; Dixon, Aye; Giudice, Aye; Joyner, Aye; Bhumip Khashnabish, Aye; Marine, Aye; Murtagh, Aye; Yan, Aye; Zhou, Aye The vote was unanimous. Meeting Highlights: The October 25, 2024 meeting will be in person in the Town Hall, followed immediately by the committee turning the 250'h Countdown Calendar Town Report Took screen shot of committee to submit to Town Report Select Board has voted to hold Special Town Meeting on November 13. Diversity, Equity, Inclusion No report Update on Subcommittee on Voter Participation in Lexington 1 Marian Cohen has analyzed voting patterns by age group in two debt exclusion elections which had schools on them (2012 and 2016). There were higher turnouts in the 30-49-50 age groups than in lower or higher ages. The subcommittee continues to work on its report. Future study on housing John Guidice reported that the challenge is while there is good understanding of the problems associated with housing there is not good communication and visibility about the planning process. Much has been published but people do not know where to go to access it. He discussed options such as improving community communication, community meetings, online services and working with local organizations. He asked for direction from the committee on going forward. Margaret proposed that the group return to the full committee with a proposed charge at the next meeting in October to be voted a subcommittee.
