HomeMy WebLinkAbout1991-11-13-FHC-min.pdf Fair Housing Committee Minutes 11 / 13/91 Present Gerri Weathers Chairman ; Florence Baturin Peter Brown ; Mary Haskell ; Bill Spencer Steve Baran Fair Housing Director ( recorder ) Absent Jim Brannon Leona Martin Bob Pressman The Minutes of 10/9/91 were corrected as follows Peter Brown and Florence Baturin listed as present were absent The St John Church Baptist Church is located in Woburn (38 Everett St) not Cambridge Gerri reported that she had discussed with Jacquie Smith the possibility of a Selectmen response to recent incidents involving the painting of swastikas Jacquie had welcomed this and suggested that the Committee should send the Selectmen a draft of a possible statement Florence said that she would try to locate a position statement that had been prepared by a college or university Steve reported on diversity training that ha been held for Town Department Heads on November 13 The training had been very well received with many ideas for follow up There was some 1 discussion about follow-up including more training with corporate ( sponsorship and a report to the press Peter reported further activity on the creation of a bank consortium under the Community Reinvestment Act There was evidence of interest from Bedford Arlington and Belmont as noted by Laura White the Lexington Savings Bank Community Reinvestment Officer He said that he planned to examine a consortium on Cape Cod known as Cape Cod 5 Bill reported that Rita Sullivan supported the idea of making a flyer available to applicants alerting them about the readiness of the Fair Housing Committee to assist them with questions about Lexington Gerri said that she had received a letter from the MCAD Chairman Michael T Duffy to the effect that Marlena Richardson had been named as the Director of the Metropolitan Boston Housing Opportunity Clearing Center also known as the METROLIST The letter came with a Community Resource Questionnaire Steve was asked to complete the questionnaire and return to Marlena Richardson together with a copy of the Fair Housing brochure
