Mailing of brochure, to be distributed in the nest 3-4 months, is
to go to 12, 000 households (all dwelling units) Berri , after
receiving encouragement from Deborah Radway, Assistant to the
Town Manager•, about Town support for• the mailing, will seek three
bids Preliminary figures from PIP are S350 for 5, 000, $650 for
10, 000 and $910 for 15, 000 brochures, 2-sided, on grey or•
burgundy stock
Ernest will raise half of the funds needed Other potential
contributors include other realtors, the Chinese-American
Association, the Le ington Housing Authority and the Fair Housing
Committee A broad base of c_ontr•ibutors is being sought

Le• ington Housing Authority turnover is very low Of F
208 elderly units the turnover amounts to between 6 to
12 per• year At present, there are 415 on the waiting
list
The Hffor•dable Housing Committee has not yet received
data from Katandin Woods or Dick Perry (nor have they F
replied to the Fair Housing Committee in its request
for demographics)
Affordable Housing data was reviewed showing that
Lincoln has achieved the highest pr^opat:tion of
affordable housing in the area--7 9%--as compared with
Lexington s 3 09
Bill Spencer reviewed new State guidelines which the
Le• ington Housing Authority is adopting Homelessness
is given high priority There is also some preference
given for being a Lexington resident At present, the
priorities e• tend only to holders of 707 certificates
The Housing Authority must proceed to collect new data,
recertify residents and charge order on the waiting

Defi-nition of Affordable Housing -
The change in the State definition for affordable
housing was discussed Question was raised as to how
this will raise the Meagherville Affordable Housing
targets
Housing Options Committee

On 11/20 there will be a public meeting of the Housing
Options Committee An Article is being prepared for
the Warrent which closes in December
Meeting with Dr Geiger
Gerri Weathers reported on her meeting with Dr Geiger She said
she was impressed by the Superintendent s grasp of fair housing
philosophy and goals He was interested in the possibility of a
poster contest and wished to receive more information in January
Gerri will send a letter to Dr Geiger as a follow up to their
meeting Ruth Walton of the Youth Commission was prepared to
work on the contest
Steve is following up with Peter Myette in order to understand
implications for persons with handicapping conditions since the
focus of the contest had been to make the public aware of the
implications of the Fair Housing Amendments of 1988 as these
affect minorities and those with handicapping conditions
Steve reported that he had talked with John Papadonis,
Coordinator uf the Social Studies Department John had talked
with Muriel Spence who informed him that she could not proceed to
participate in the Social Studies Advisory Committee as she no
longer had the time The Committee will have four meetings a
year, beginning on a Monday in December There will be one
subcommittee for parents and citizens and another subcommittee
for staff and teachers. Committee members spoke of the need for
an additional member to take on this task
Fair Housing Policy
The Committee will be making policy recommendations in light of
the above issues E, isting Fair Housing policy resolutions
adopted by the Town were distributed to the Committee
