Minutes of meeting of 7/26 and Minutes of 9/13
The Committee responded to questions of Debby Radway on the
Minutes of the 7/26 meeting On page 1 , par 4, instead of "some
of their residents", substitute "one of their residents" On
page 2, par 2, the word " latter" should be changed to "former"
See attached Minutes In paragraph. 5 on the same page, the
phrase "with rental of units" should be eliminated
In the Minutes of 9/13 purpose of the discussion with the
Newcomers' Club and the Guide was to encourage newcomers in
relation to the Committee' s goal of promoting diversity
Demographics
Housing demographic forms which had been filled out were reviewed
by the Committee with respect to returns from the Lexington
Housing Authority, LexHab, and Lexington Interfaith Data must
still be obtained from Katandin Woods and Pine Grove Manor An
unduplicated count showed 289 white, 11 Black, 11 Asian, 2
Hispanic and 1 other Among the elderly subset there were C
elderly, 196 White, 10 Asian, 1 Hispanic and 1 other
Waiting List
It was noted that the Affordable Housing Task Force was now
looking at, the Lexington Housing Authority waiting list Equal
preference \is given to minorities and to Lexington residents
There are bbth State and federal waiting lists, and people are
urged to gets on both
It was agreed, that the Committee would look at waiting list
numbers, and other groups would be invited to share information
on how outreach is done
There was some discussion about how to encourage people on the
waiting list to want to move to Lexington In this connection,
Erna Greene will be asked to include St John' s Church in Woburn
(Larry Edmonds, minister ) in the Guide
Selection Process for Mixed Income Housing
It was agreed that there was a gap between low and affordable
housing The Committee needed to look at the SHARP guidelines
for tenant selection and check on affirmative action issues with
the Policy and Goals Affordable Housing Committee

Affordable Housin¢ Process
A consult-ant has been hired on the Site Development Committee
Bob Pressman had objected to the postponement of a report to
Town Meeting from the fall to the spring even though Town Meeting
had directed that a report be made available in the fall
Rick had been asked about the potential impact of additional cuts
on affordable housing He commented that there should not be a
moat around the Town Affordable Housing Committee members had
suggested goals ranging roughly between 0 and 50
A needs questionnaire will be completed by respondents approached
at the Stop and Shop and through the Clergymen' s Association
Affordable Housing Committee members are also meeting with Town
Meeting members and studying various construction techniques
while the Planning Department is conducting a land study of all
Lexington parcels to be completed by the Spring The purpose is
to find usable parcels on non-taxable land
Poster Prosect and Other Educational Protects
Gerri Weathers agreed to talk with Debby Radway about methods for
sending out fair housing information Poster project is in the
planning stages
