Literature is sent to all newcomers ( information obtained through
announcements of real estate changes) Also, flyers are left in
the library and with realtors There is a kick-off get together
once a year and speakers during the year, e g , Larry Whipple,
Historical Society
The purpose of the Club is to give newcomers an understanding of
Lexington
The membership is divided into three cooperatives for baby
sitting purposes
There is a five-year limit on membership Graduates belong to
the "' Ole Res Club"
Judy noted that the membership had dwindled possibly due to the
advent of two-income families, possibly due to diminished real
estate sales The membership is divided equally between men and
women, and there are lots of Asian newcomers The Secretary of
the Board is Asian There are hardly any Black members and very
few singles
Bill Spencer made the following suggestions
The newsletter might be used to publicize non-Club
events Judy said that the Board was exploring the
possibility of expanding the newsletter
Extra copies should be left in the Town Office Building
for distribution
Rita Sullivan will call Judy about newcomers in
Lexington Housing Authority units

Poster Proiect
Steve reported on a meeting with Vidya Bhatia of the Fair Housing
Committee and Cari Luterman of the Enablement Committee to plan a
poster on the 1988 Fair Housing Amendments which include fair
housing for people with disabilities
The planners felt that the tone should be one of cooperation.
Therefore, a contest might not be appropriate Nancy Gordon of
the School Department has been contacted to look for one or more
interns who might wish to work on this project Fred Rosenberg
of the Arts Council , Bill Crane of the Developmental
Disabilities Law Center of Massachusetts and Kathie Gips of the
Office for Handicapped Affairs are being contacted
