HomeMy WebLinkAbout1996-04-16-BFC-min.pdf TOWN OF LEXINGTON AD HOC BUILDING FINANCE COMMITTEE Minutes of Meeting April 16 1996 in the Directors ' Room of Cary Memorial Building The meeting was called to order by Chairman Kelley at 7 10 p m with all committee members present Distributed at this meeting Minutes of the April 12 meeting and a building needs assessment chart for Cary Memorial Library Minutes of April 12 were approved as amended What if the Cary Library proiect does not ao? The library building committee says that deferred maintenance plus some electrical and data communication upgrade would be done (See chart , as discussed below ) Noted that following the April 12 meeting Chairman Kelley, Don Jenkins and Gil Garber toured the Cary Library building ADA Compliance includes $3,000 for hand rails in the outside ramp, $80 ,000 the carpentry in the building to improve access in the stacks (shelves) and at the circulation desk, $15,000 for handicapped-friendly elevator in the same shaft as the present elevator The Archetype report does not include these items Roof . The flat roof appears to be in excellent shape The shingled roof is 20 years old, dating back to the mid-70s Agreed to include $35, 000 for replacement of the shingled roof in 10 years Windows would not be in a deferred maintenance budget Floorina needs replacement now in some places Pierce the new building plans call for carpet in large squares Paintina should be an operating budget item for regular maintenance Sprinklers not recommended until a townwide policy dictates otherwise Plumbina expenditure of $2500 for water conservation recommended HVAC needs include replacement and updating all controls for $300 ,000 Oil tanks explanation on chart should read, "installation of monitoring system on both tanks " Electrical figure of $65,000 accepted for upgrade and expansion needs Technology data communication would require installation of a cable for the library/town's Internet connection Building Finance Committee budget for 40 terminal stations is $20 ,000 using John Moynihan' s figures for the schools The scope of this need is not now known The figures in the Chairman's draft chart for Security System Lighting and Hazardous materials were accepted as presented Meeting adjourned at 8 37rp m Respectfully submitted, L/v,�n /! �� d .4?
