HomeMy WebLinkAbout1995-12-08-BFC-min.pdf TOWN OF LEXINGTON AD HOC BUILDING FINANCE COMMITTEE Minutes of Meeting December 8 1995 at the School Administration Building, as approved April 8 , 1996 The meeting began at approximately 7 35 a m with all committee members except Moore present Also attending was John Moynihan of the School Department Materials Distributed Nearly final report of the committee, incorporating narrative and Updated table sheets on public buildings and schools Minutes of November 15 1995 APPROVED as submitted Minutes of November 17 1995 and Minutes of December 1 1995 APPROVED as amended Noted that the $60 000 roof expenses mentioned on page 2 of the 11/17 minutes included leaks in the library tower and problems with nearby air conditioners Minutes review drew further comment about the animal shelter, which is used part-time for strays , including those from Hanscom Heat is supplied by a propane heater, all maintenance needs of the building can be taken care of in the operating budget In 1994 18 animals were cared for there, fewer than in the previous year Discussion of content and organization of final committee report ensued Generally the committee liked the report , but recommended some rear- rangement for better flow Acknowledgments were recommended for page 4 or at end Editorial changes were made to the acknowledgments, intro- duction (now pages 1 and 2) and footnote No 3 (report from Garber and Jenkins , who will be identified only as several BFC committee members) will occupy page 3 The Reports on Buildings text , with third paragraph to be moved to "points to ponder" section on the last page, at the end of the summary statement , which was given some editorial revision Chairman will arrange for 100 copies of the report to be printed and distributed to many committees Questions were raised about the number of "computer drops" in each school except for Hastings , which already receive its technology upgrade renovation A footnote is to be added that the committee did not evaluate the recommendations of the town-wide technology committee Moynihan said that the need for computer ter- minals is "enrollment driven" Final approval of the report by the BFC committee was finally achieved in this meeting, that lasted formally until 9 43 a m and informally until 9 55 a m Committee members were urged to attend the December 18 meeting of the Board of Selectmen and the December 19 meeting of the School Committee Respectfully submitted, Gyp_ / Erna S Greene, Secretary
