It was decided to hold the `annual Town Election Election in the Gary Memorial Hall rather than in the lower part of the building where the November election was held. Letter wags received from the Board of Trade in which they stated that the Parking Regulations Parking proposed by the Board were agreeable to them. Regulations It was left with the Clerk and the Supt. of Public Works to see that the proper form of regu- lation is drawn up for the Board to sign. Letter was also received from the Board of Overhanging covering in which they stated that the regulation covering overhanging signs was agreeable to them Sign Reg. except that the construction of marquees over theatres were designated as glass construction, 5 V and this construction has been entirely done away with. It was decided to lay the matter of adopting this regulation over until some. future date. Discussion arose as to the charge to be made for the permit. The suggestion of the Board of Trade was that $1.00 be made for the permit and 25/ for renewals. Application was received. fromRobert Morrow for a Pool Room License at 434 Massachusetts Pool Avenue, this being a transfer of the ownership. Room Three satisfactory letters of recommendation Application. for the new owner were received, and the Board voted to grant the license . Letter was received from Metcalf & Eddy in which they stated that they would be willing to continue the sewer survey in the Town of Lexington at a cost of not exceeding $3,000. providing the Engineer Department furnish Sewer them with sufficient data. Survey. It was decided to notify Metcalf & Eddy that the Town Engineering Department will furnish the data and that the Town would not enter into the extra expense of $1 ,500. and have them furnish this work. The Board discussed the letter that was written by Mr. Custance to be sent to Mr. Robert L. Ryder relative to his piggery, copy of which letter had been sent to the Town Counsel, Ryder and the Town Counsel replied over the telephone piggery. that he did not believe this form of letter should be sent to Mr. Ryder, but that a conference shoild be held with him. The Board decided at the present time to lay the matter •on the table. Letter was received from the Supt. of Public Works in regard to the complaints made by Buckley & McCormack relative to plumbing permits which have been granted, they claim in violation of the plumbing laws and State laws relating to Buckley & the plumbing ordinances. McCormilok The Supt. of Public Works set forth the compla1nt. report of his conference with Buckley & kcCormaek and the Chairman of the Board, also the plumbing Inspector. It appeared from the report that violations were evident, and it was voted to request the Plumbing Inspector to answer in writing the statements made in the report of the Supt. of Public Works , numbered from one to eight. Suggested notice was presented by the Supt. of Public Works to be given to abuttors along the line of the sewers who have not connected. 60 a, It was decided to lay this matter on the table until such time as the former 24 notice which has been sent out in earlier Sewer years, is brought before the Board. Applications. The Supt. of Public Works stated that there are 430 connections made in the Town along the line of the sewers cnr 162 con- nections have not as yet been made. Plans showing the intended location of the Garage garage of George E. Lakshewitz of 7 Spencer application Street was received and the Board voted to grant a permit to erect a garage on his premises. Letter was received from the Sup.t of Public Works giving statement of estimate of cost of doing the work along Clematis Brook. He stated that the approximate distance is more than three miles, and the estimate of the cost of doing the work Clematis properly, building culverts, sloping Brook. banks , and not including any land damages, is $60,000. The problem of doing the work was dis- cussed, and it was decided to refer the matter to the Supt. of Public Works to take up with Metcalf & Eddy. Canvas It was voted to instruct the Supt. of for floor. Public Works to purchase a canvas for the Cary Memorial Hall floor. It was decided to lay upon the table Moretti the application of Pasquale Moretti for garage. a permit to build a garage, until such time as a report is received from Mr. Custance upon the same. Mr. Custance reported in regard to the trees in fro'it of the Viano Garage , 400 Massa- chusetts Avenue, that he talked with Mr. Viand and he is willing to move the trees if the Viano Town will post them. trees . The matter was referred to the Supt. of Public Works to host the trees and to consult with Mr. Viano in regard to removing them. Mr. Burnham reported that he had consulted with Mrs Alice H. Simonds in regard to the sewer assessment tax against her property, and Simonds she still felt that she is entitled to an abate- sewer. went. It was decided to request the Suint . of Public Works to have tine Engineers measure up the distance and bring in an abatement for the Board to sign next week. The weekly report of the Supt. of Public Works is as follows : 61 For the week ending February 23, 1929. Highway Department Sidewalk on Bedford Street was repaired with gravel pea stone. Surfaces on several streets were patched. The removal of snow occupied the department during the past four days. Next week the Department will be occupied with the regular maintenance work. Moth and Shade Tree Department. Gypsy moth nests treated with creosote in Tower Park and the Town Woods off Lincoln Street. Supt. of Public Park Department. Works report. Regular maintenance work carried on. Water Maintenance. II Installed water service for Heaney on Chase Avenue; repaired break in main on the Oakland St-eet extension; worked on paiting of hydrants and equipment; worked on shoveling snow from hydrants . Regular rottine work is planned for the week ending March 9, 1929. Engineering Department. Miscellaneous. Figured average cost of sewer for past five years to be used as 1929 construction estimate -44.9777. Work on Vaille Avenue and proposed street in McPhee development. Work on final tracing for Ryder takings at Lowell and North Streets. Additions and corrections to 400 Scale Town Map. Information from Whitman and Howard in regard to layout of Oakmount Park.
