A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held. Sept. 4/28 at the Selectments 'doom, `town Office wilding, at 8.00 P.M. Messrs. Burnham, Custance, Ballard and Robertson_ were present. The 6upt. of "ublic "),orks and the Clerk were also present. The records of la_,t meeting were approved. 'i arrant for the State Primary to be held Sept. 183, 1928 was signed by the Board.. The residents of Upland Road had an opportunity to come before the Board_ at their meeting, but no persons anpeared to give their views in regard to installation of a seder on thni; street. Letter w, s received from Calvi_r 'PJ. Childs in which he stated that he felt that a secrer in Upland Road vas very essential. Ilse Board voted to authorize the Sunt. of iublic 7orks to install a sewer in Upland Road and. Glen Road. Sept. 6, 1928 and payable April 4, 1929 at the Atlantic National Bank of Boston. Bids are as follows: Batik of Commerce and Trust Co. 4.795 Old. Colony Trust Co. 4.68 Lexington Trust Co. 4.80 Atlantic -Merrill Oldham Corp. 4.83 The bid was awarded_ to the Old Colony Trust Co. The Board decided to request the issue of '''14,000 sew^r bonds at a rate of interest to be set by Mr. Ohamberlain. Hearing was declared oren upon t -he ap-� lication of Anna G. McDonnell of 69 'S'oburn St, at 8.30 P.Tv". Mr. Patrick McDonnell appeared for the petition, and no rersons appeared against it. It was therefore voted to r -;rant the application. Ave, or ,chat he would advise in regar' i.o same. -Russell I. Prentiss, Health Insrector, came before the Board. and reported_ in regard to the Ricci premises on " altham L=t., that i4r. Ricci had disposed of most of his pigs and he felt that he would coply with the ruling; of the Board to get rid, of the rest of them as soon as possible. The Board therefore voted. to request 'r. Ricci to get rid of his pigs by October 1, 1925. In regard to the application of Anna Korman of Ridge Road for a permit to '_peep 10 pigs, it ws.s voted to decline the application and to inform ivirs. Korman that she could keep two pigs 'riithout a pe.rTit, but the Board would consider it a violation of the Board of eal.th regul^tions if she Rept more; than that number. Mr. Prentiss reported in regard to the well maintained by one Mariette of East Lexington, colored mar, stating that the well was about four feet deep and. was in a hollow but he had a ditch dug around it so that no drainage went into it. He stated that he did not examine the water as there would be a charge of about ;25.00 to have this done, and inasmuch as the parties themselves were not com,laining, he did not feel it necessary to have it examined.. It was decided to request the Supt, of Public '7orks to have ' the Tonin Engineer male a study of the layout of an extension of Bow St., through to Lowell St., acid make his recommendation to the Board. The '�'upt. of Public 'Norks was also requested to report to the boarr-1 as soon as possible on the ,,widening of Bow Wit., to 501 and the extension td Lowell Street. The "upt, of Public Works was also requested to check up to find out ho,ri much time the Town Engineers spent on the Star Realty Co. w-th a view to checking how much time the Engineers spent on out- side projects. The Board discussed the advisability of this woriz on develop- ments. Supt, of Publi.^ '°,'or'rs was requested to furnish a definite state- ment in regard to t'ne collection of garbage for the Board at their next meeting. Ile was also requested to look into the matter of drainage coming from under the sidewalk onto the nevi Tov!(er Par's, and to have all the ditches in the High,,!ay from the Arlington Lire up fixed, and to give attention also to the one at Bloomfield Street which . has been pr.tched but is not in good. condition. The Department was occupied with the construction'of Simonds Koad, patching the surfaces of Lincoln Stree t, Foll_en Road, '1linter Street, and Massachusetts Avenue, cut'ing brush on Hill Street and other regular maintenance work. Next week the same work will be continued.. kloth and Shade 'Free Departments. Cutting brush in Bowman Park and in the Town woods and at the corner of ^'arren and ';uashingt.on Streets, an(removing a dead tree from Edgewood.Roo.r, occupied the Departments last week. Next week will complete the work in Bowman Park, and will com- plete the cutting out of brush and undergrowth in the Town woods and will complete trimming highwq-y trees. Park Department.
