The Board discussed the matter and voted to inform the Board
of Trade that in their opinion it would be a better plan to consider
a permanent rather than a temporary information booth, and that if
such a booth is to be located on town property that permission
should be secured from the town at a Town Meeting rather than from
the Selectmen.
At 8:30 P.M. Representative George E. Briggs came before
the Board in regard to the bill in the Legislature relative to
a system of sewerage to the -ketropolitan State Hospital. He stated
that if the Town entered the south Metrepolitan District now,
in the future the Town of Lexington would be very fortunate to
have two outlets instead of the one, which.we now have, and which
is connected with the North metropolitan District. The State has
now decided to bpild,.the sewer through the Beaver Brook property
in Waltham, and if the Town of Lexington desires to enter it, the
Town will have to pay before April 1, 1929 approximately $8,300.
this being its share of the cost of construction of the sewer line.
They will also have to pay approximately $1260. which is an ent ance
fee payable at the option of the Town, and approximately $200..
year, this being a maintenance charge.
As the time is limited, there would not be sufficient time to
take the matter up in a Town Meeting, and the Selectmen will have
to assume the responsibility of the situation.
It was voted to authorize Representative George E. Briggs to
express the approval of the Board that they w6uld 1tke to see the
bill completed along the lines he suggested giving Lexington an
opportunity to enter the South Metropolitan District.
L6tter was received from the Town Counsel in regard to the
Paul Revere Golf Links being granted a Common 'Victuallers License if
they applied for it. It was felt that a club and golf links in
that section would be a good thing for the Town, and it was voted to
wait until statement is received from the club as to whether it will
be public or primate, before vie take any action on their verbal
request for a sign. Also, they must file an application for a sign,
stating where they would like to place it. The matter was therefor
laid over until such application is received.
Bond was received from Rufus W. Blake, for a sign to overhang
the sidewalk at 446 Dass. Avenue. As Mr. Blake has not signed
an agreement stating that he will remove the sign when requested,
the matter was turned over to the Supt. of Public Works.
