togo over the report of that committee and take up each item
separately.- It was felt that if the appropriation sheets -could be
given to the Selectmen by January 15th it would help the Appropria-
tion committee insofar as they would have more time to pass upon
same. It was stated that each sheet should be signed by the head
of the Department before it is given to the Selectmen, and after
they passed upon it, they would give it to the Appropriation Com-
mittee. It was suggested that we h:ve some definite scheme for
next year in regard to these estimate sheets.
Mr. Norman C. Hooper presented plan of the fire alarm system
showing present boxes, proposed new boxes, and phantom boxes. These
phantom boxes are gradually being replsced by regular alarm boxes.
The aerial survey and the block plan were discussed. Letter
was read from fir. Fred Spencer, Assistant Assessor, in�regard to same,
and stating that it would hJp him in his work a great deal.

Joint pole location for two poles on Follen Road was received
and referred to the Supt. of Public Works to take up with Pyr. George R.
Harrington, who was not present at the hearing, but 14ino n6tified the
Chairman that he had objections to the location.
The Chairman presented a statement in regard to the loan on the
new Town Office Building. After discussing the ratter it was decided
to issue notes to the amount of w45,000 for the period of 20 years
at the rate of 4%. In connection with this lean the Chairman pre-
sented statements showing what it would cost the Town to borrow
this amount for five years, ten years, fifteen years, and twenty years.
Photographs of the Standard Oil Company filling station at
5 Massachusetts Avenue were received in connection with their appli-
cation for a sign overhanging the sidewalk, and it was voted that the
matter be indefinitely postponed.
The Chairman reported that he had received an invitation from
Bliss Ellen Tower to attend a tea at her home on her 80th birthday
and the Board voted to send some flowers to her.
Letter was received from Harry M. Aldrich in which he stated that

the option he has given the Town on a triangular lot on Woburn
Street owned by him expires May 1, 1928. The Board decided to lay
the matter on the table.

Letter was received from John T. Cosgrove in regard to a map
of all water mains in the Town that the �evv England Insurance
Exchange is compiling, and copy of which will be furnished to the '
Town upon completion at no cost whatever. This matter was left
with Mr. Robertson to attend to.
Letter was received from John T. Cosgrove, Acting Town En-
gineer, in fregard to the omission of his private office in the new
Town OfficeBuilding. No action was taken upon the matter as it was
felt that it is an easy matter to put a partition up when the build-
ing is practically finished.
Letter was received from Mr. Everett N. Montague stating that
the cost of a block plan for the entire town would probably run
between $22,000. and $25,000.
Application was received from Philip P. Leaf, 30 Cottage Street,
for a janitor's position in the net, Cary Memorial Building. This
application was placed on file for future f°eference.
Application was received from Jesse Meadows for a license to
peddle vegetables. No references were presented in connection
with this application, and it was tnerefor,laid on the table.
