HomeMy WebLinkAbout1982-05-04-LYC-min.pdf RECEIVED' SFLECTM EN' LEXINGTON YOUTH COMMISSION MAI 191882 Minutes of the Meeting of May 4 , 1982 / Present Nancy Barter, Jim Findley, Ron Wells, Bea Phear Students Phil Deutch Absent Ron Marble, John McGirr MINUTES The minutes of the meeting of April 13 were approved REPLACE MEETING We all came away with positive feelings about the meeting Decided to begin planning for a Youth Awareness Week in the fall DICK ALBERT AWARD Ron Wells gave Dick Albert, the Channel 5 Weatherman, a plaque for his "Use Your Smarts" program Marsha Williamson from the Lexington Minuteman was present at the ceremony YOUTH RECOGNITION AWARD Tom Raboin, a member of this year's selection committee has agreed to chair the committee next year Decided Ron Wells will draft a thank you letter for this year' s committee members and send it to the Minuteman SUMMER INTERN Bea reported that she will have a summer intern who could help organize Youth Awareness Week or assist in other ways YOUTH MEMBERSHIP We discussed ways of increasing youth membership and particiaption Phil suggested we focus our attention on sophomores, award a "certificate" at the end of the year for participation, and publicize the Commission through home room announcements and flyers Decided To consider all of the above Ron will draft a certificate for this year' s participants KIDS-TO-KIDS Phil reported that most of the Kids-tofcids program participants are seniors and we need to develop a plan for next year Decided To discuss this at the next meeting AGENDA Youth Awareness Day - Ron Wells will report on what Concord did Outward Bound fundraising - Ron Marble Musket Article - Phil Deutch Kids-to-Kids - Phil Deutch MEETING SCHEDULE May 18 June 1 (final meeting followed afterwards by refreshments at the Sheraton) Respectfully submitted, Jim Findley
