Mr Harris advised that the 'meeting was duly posted and all requested that the meeting end by 10 00 A.M. or shortly thereafter Mr Harris reviewed the fact that the Committee had voted 7 to 2 to support office use with two committee members recommending residential, specifically, Mr Spencer and Mr Giller The Committee further acknowledged that there was division on office use - Comeau vs Elgin - with the majority recommending Elgin. Mr McCabe pointed out that he had supplied a letter and had received calls supporting Comeau because they seem to answer more Town needs. George Harris, chairing the meeting, pointed out that the office proposals seemed to be stronger than the residential proposals when looking at the Selectmen's charge He suggested that a chart be prepared to update the recent matrix prepared so that the Selectmen could once again look at the 4 proposals in perspective of their own guidelines. In addition, the charge should reference parking and the fact that the Committee did support keeping the abutting piece of property for open space, recreational purposes A brief poll of the Committee was conducted which affirmed the following things Mr Giller felt that a residential use was the only proposal that would be acceptable to the neighborhood and pass Town Meeting Mrs Shunney felt that the Codman proposal addressed a certain housing need. While still not within the price range that people would like to see, it was not unreasonable Of the office proposals, Elgin was cleaner and not as complex as Comeau. Mr. Spencer still favored housing with particular emphasis on low and moderate income housing Mr Hutchinson pointed out that the needs assessment referenced by so many interests groups called for property tax stabilization and the ability to live in one's own home before congregate housing. The Committee agreed that each of its members should briefly reference to the Selectmen how it felt to further the understanding how hard the Committee has worked to allow for participation. MUZZEY SCHOOL CONVERSION COMMITTEE -2- March 20, 1982 There was some discussion that enough emphasis had been given to senior citizen housing while excluding housing concerns for those who are paying for that senior citizen housing now In short, that working families, young, middle age and old deserve consideration as well.. Mr Harris asked that the Manager work on a quick matrix so that the Selectmen could review once again this proposal. Each Committee member will be offered the opportunity to present their concerns on Monday evening The meeting adjourned at 10 15 A.M. RespectDfful/ly'submitted, Robert M.
