REGULAR MEETING, SEPTEMBER 61, 1927
A meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held at the Selectmen's
Office at 7:30 P.M. '"Lessrs. Custance, Burnham, Ballard, Chamberlain,
and Robertson were present. The Town Counsel, Sydney R. Wrightington,
Supt. of Public Works and Clerk were also present.
The Board discussed the articles to -be inserted in the Warrant
for the Town Meeting to be held September 22, 1927, and signed the
Warrant for a meeting to be held on that date,
Mr. Worthen of the Committee on the New Town Office Building
came before the Board with the report of the Committee, which was
read and approved by the Board.
In regard to the bill of Metcalf and Eddy for engineering services,
which has been held in abeyance, it was, on motion of William H. Ballard,
"Voted that the bill of I''etcalf & Eddy, dated May 31, 1927,
for $2616.53 be approved for payment from the funds appropriated
under vote of the Town dated December 61, 1926, for engineering
services in regard to the surface drainage of the Vine Brook areq�,-
work having been directed by bhe Planning Board and the results set
forth in the report and plans cif -Metcalf & Eddy, dated May 100, 1927
copy of the same being furnished to each of the members of the Board
of Selectmen and the originals being filed with the Clerk of the
Selectmen,(
While the Town authorized the transfer of the money for this
general purpose, and the Selectmen had knowledge of the fact that
t1his work was being done, they did not, at any time, pass a vote
requesting.the work to be done, by the Planning Board or authorize
the expenditure of the money. The information secured, will, without
doubt, be of substantial value to the Town, altho this can better be
determined when the Selectmen and the Planning Board can reach a
joint eoncNLsion as to what work if any should'berdone in regard to'
this drainage project and the way in which any part or all of this
plan can be put into effect."
It was decided to insert notice in the local paper informing
parties who desire to have streets accepted to make application
to the Board of Selectmen on or before November 30, 1927.
A common victuallers license was granted to Mrs. W. A. Davis
of Bedford Stkeet.
Meeting adjourned at 10:55 P.M.
