A regular meeting of the selectmen es held at the Selectmen's
Office at 7 3O P. n .iessrs Custance, Burnham, Robertson, Ballard
and Chamberlain -ere present . The Supt. of Public Works and the Clerk

Letter of appreciation for the use of the Lexington flags at
Dallas, Texas, at the meeting of the Department of. Superintendence
of the National Education Association Tas receivee from Randall J.
Condon, Superintendent of Cincinnati Public School . Mr. Condon
also stated that a, pos..ible meeting might be held in Lexington by
this lessociation. A reply 1-as made to =•1r. Coneen' s letter in which
he was informed thr t the Lexington Ilags -ere returned in good con-
dition, and extending e cordial invitation to the Association.

r. Kraetzer' s bid being the highest of the two bids received,
it was voted to acceptthe same.
Letter was received from .'tir e . Clam: m. Barbour in which she
resigned as a member of the Dental Clinic Committee. The Board
accepted therest.ation and voted to appoint burs. Hugh D. LicLellan
on this committee for the terra ending March 31, 1928.
The attention of the Beare gee called to Board of Survey hearing
to be held on the 53rd inst. at 8 P on the proposition of laying
street out over the property of .drs Bridget Lear- near Cottage
Street .
Letter was received from ettorney Themes dahey relative to the
use of the land o ned b- Dr William L. Barnes adjacent to the lot
occupied by the Isaac ;iarris Cary memorial building Dr. Barnes has
been refused a permit to erect a. fil !ine station on this lot by the
Selectmen, and ttorney Va.hey brings the cyueetion before them as to
whether a blo& of stores built close to the street line would be more
unsightly than a filling station set back at least fifty feet from the

street . Attorney Whey also enclosed a letter from fobert P Clapp
in vi-ich nr Clap- ey- ressed the opinion that a filling station
vould be more sightly than e block of stores .
The Bo: rd directe the ac__no lodgment of a letter ani decided to
request the P1 nning Board to give their viers upon the situation.
A petition Was received by the Board signed by come of the
residents of the town asking that something be done to safeguard
the public against deaths similar to the death of James C. George
end George Ingram both eleven years of age, to rere crowned on
April "0, ]e-Y7 in r ')on in the rear of the car house r n: on property
of the .iudlesex (1 Boston St Rey Company. Mr. H H. Hanson of the
.,:iddlesex . Boston St. Pry Company ,..a, personally requested by the
Board to see wh, t could be done by the wqy of erecting a fence around
this pond and posting signs to keep peons away, also removing the
rafts thich are on the pond

company, anu if they had no objection, the land cold be filled in by
dumping and that the Town could have the privilege of dumping there.

Board for the month of :day.
At 8 SO P.M. the ...iddlesex & Boston St. R y. Co. representatives,
Mr. H. H H nson, General Manager, and Thomas F. Griffin, Superintendent
came before the Board to aiscuss the matter of operating the line on
l-,altham Street giving hJurly service veek days and Sunday.
Hr. Edward L Fenn of the Transports tion Committee -aa present
as were also J. Emil Gr•: mstorff, U. r . Granfield, Neil McIntosh, and
other residents of the vicinity of Farmhurst __nd Cary Farm
Hr. Henson informed the Board that at the present time the route
which is run to the Pic Forecs consisting of thirteen trips each way
brings them a revenue of w7 50 r day, and it is costing about $17.00
or : 18 00 a day to run it . They based their figures on = cost of about
SS per mile of bus tirnsportation.
The proposition that the Board placed before the Middlesex & Bn ton
St. R T. Company e- that they were about to grant the Lovell Bus Line,
Inc. )ermisaion to stop in Lexington on the State Road to receive and
deliver passengers, but before doing this they de-ire to find out if
the .widdlese:: Boston t. F y Company ould like to enlarge their
present tate Road service tothe extent of running a bell; line s ?.rvice
on the State Road, Five Forks and Lincoln Street to Lexington, ,nd
through to Arlington rieight,,, the busses to be run in each direction

Mr . Fenn moue the suggestion that the nidulesex & Boston St . Rvy
Company run a service from the State Foad on Massachusetts Avenue down
::Iassachusetts Avenue through Lexington Center, down o'ourn Street to
the corner of Lo 'ell Street. He stateu that he thought there were
about one hundred seventy families on oburn Street that mould oe served
by the bus . He felt that a. ous run in this territory during train time
would assist the income of the company _ir. Hanson stated that this -
suggestion had not occurred to him -nd that he ;could be -filling to make
a study of the proposition. He stated also that he felt the 'liddlesex
