Letter of appreciation for the use of the Lexington flags at
Dallas, Teras, at the meeting of the Department of. Superintendence
of the Eational Education Association zTs received from Randall J.
Condon, uperintendant of Cincinnati Public 11chools. Er. Cordon
also stated that possible :Meeting might be held in Lexington by

The attention of the Boardr,as called to Board of Survey hearing
to be held on the 23rd inst. at 8 P.:. on the proposition of laying
street out over the property of airs. Bridget Le�lr'T near Cottage
Street.
Letter was received from i.ttorney Thomas whey relative to the
use of the land o.nea b.- Dr. Tilli?m L. Barnes adjacent to the lot
occupied by the Isaac 3rris Cary iemorial Building. Dr. Barnes has
been refused a permit to erect c fi1!in= station on this lot by the
Selectmen, and r',ttorney Vahey brings the cuestion before them as to
whether a blo& of stores built close to the street line tirould be more
unsightly than a filling station set back at least fifty feet from the

A pbtition was received by the Board signed by some of the
residents of the torn aslLing that something be done to safeguard
the public against deaths similar to the death of James C. George
:end George Ingram both eleven 7 -ears of age, ho :;ere droc^ped on
April "0, l9,7 in )on in the rear of the car house and on property
of the L iddlesex & Boston St. Rr:y. Company. Lir. H. H. _Ianson of the
;iiddles;;x w Boston St. Rv:y. Company ,^as personally requested by the
Board to see i;.-h,<_t could be done by the wqy of erecting a fence around
this pond and posting signs to keep persons rav,ay, also removing the
rafts .,hich are on the pond.
r. Hwnson explained that this pond wa.s necess.,ry for insurance
protection. He thought the matter :night be taken up rith the insurance
company, end if they had no objection, the lend could be filled in by
dumping and that the -own could have the privilege of dumping there.

i:Ir. H. H. Henson, General lvlanager, and Thomas F. Griffin, Superintendent
came before the Board to discuss the matter of operating the line on
l'alths.m Street giving hourly service sieel. dl-.ys end Sunday.
-Tr . EdV:ard L. Tenn of the Transportation Com:�ittee , ac present
as were also J. Emil Gr•c�mstorff, r. i.. Granfield, ldeil iaclntosh, and
other residents of: the vicinity of Farmhurst and Cary Farm.
IIr. Hanson informed the Board that at the present time the route
�;hich is run to the Fiv Forl�s consisting of thirteen trips each u°ra.y
brings them a revenue of w7.50 F. day, rnd it is costing about $17.00
or 4r18.0O a day to run it. They based their figures on cost of about
per mile of bus transportation.

Inc. permis=ion to stop in Lexington on the State Road to receive and
deliver passengers, but before doing this they desired to find out if
the "iddlesex �; Boston 't. R y. Company ould like to enlarge their
present State Road service to the -.-tent of running a belt: line ssrvice
on the State Road, Five Forks and Lincoln Street to Lexington, and
through to Arlington Heights, the busses to be run in each direction

r. Fenn m<lde the suggestion that the Lliddlesex G: Boston St.
Company run a service from the State Road on Massachusetts Avenue do;n
as L, Avenue through :Lexington Center, do,;,n 'eo'ourn Street to
the corner of Lo ell Strut. He stated that he thought there were
about one hundred seventy families on ': oburn Street that :ould be served
by the bus. He felt that bus run in this territory during train time
