REGULAR 1EETING., April 203. 1927.
A regulsr meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held at the
Selectments Office at 7:30 P.M. Messrs. Custance, Burnham, Ballard,
Robertson, and Chamb,-rlain i.,ere present. The Supt. of Public 1k.rorks
and the Clerk were also present.
The records were approved.
Board of Survey hearing on the application of Robbins & Smith
for the approval of _.lay out of Madison Avenue, Lexington Avenue,
Smith Avenue, Robbins Road, Toi,.rer Street, Locust Avenue and 6"atson
Avenue being adjourned to April 20, 1927 was declared open.
Hearing was also declared open by the Board of Survey on their
notice to lay out streets over the property of Fred H. Moultpn,
Fred C. Earle, Heirs of Richard G. Tower, and George F. Harrington,
Mr. George F. Harrington, firs. Grace E. Blake, Fred C. Earle, William
Tower, and Miss LeMay were present at the hearing.
Letter was received from the Planning Board expressing their
approval of the lay out which was presented at the meeting with the
suggestion that the lay out would be improved by modifying the line
of Summit Road Extension (B) as indicated in dotted red lines.
Mr. Earle sta':cd that he felt that the street laid out along his
property would not be of a benefit, and that later on betterment
taxes would be assessed to him. Mr. Harrington stated that he did
not wish to hamper the development of the property, but he did not
feel that he wa—. to receive any benefit and felt he should receive
pay for his land. He stated that he felt that he hl -;d done his part tai
' when Follen Road was constructed thirteen years ago by giving a strip
of land fifty feet wide and nine hundred feet long. No other parties
seemed to object to the lay out. The he=:ring was declared closed
at 9 PX., and the Board took the matter under consideration.

Application arG: received from Calvin 1V. -Childs for a permit
to install two 10,000 gallon gasoline tars. The Board decided when
the proper form was filed a hearing be advertised on s�--me.
Letter was received from Lyon Carter, on behalf of the Lexington
Golf Club, in v!hich he offered a payment of $10.00 per year rental for
a strip of 1-rnd to extend the ninth tee. The Board decided to enter
into a formal agreement with the Lexington Golf' Club, and voted to
rent a portion of the Lexington Town Farm adjacent to the Golf Club,
and adjacent to the ninth hole, a lot of approximately 150 feet by
150 feet for $10.00 per year, the Golf Club to be tenants at will.
In regard to the application of the Lovell Bus it Aas decided to
lay the matter on the table for one week.
The Board again discussed the lay out of Robbins & Smith, and it
was suggested that 11r. Chamberlain consult with them regarding trading
of land with George F. Harrington, also in regard to the Tower lr.nd
and Earle .land.
:fir. Ballard presented all necessary papers in connection with
the proposal of the Rindge Property, and the Board approved the same
and instructed Pyr. Ballard to advertise for bids on the sale of the
Rindge prop;.rty and utilize the proposal and other papers, which he
submitted, as prepared by dale & Dorr.
Letter, -:as received fVom the Planning Board relative to the plans
of the Perkins property which were presented to them for consideration,
in which they asked that the engineer give them the necessary data to
complete their study, The Board decided to inform the Acting Town
Engineer to prepare this data fo the Planning Board.
In regard to the application of Lloyd il. Chase for a permit for
a gasoline filling station in connection with his roadside stand on
Middle Street, it was voted that a permit be granted to Lloyd H. Chase
for a filling station to be located west of the roadside stand as
shown on plan filed by him, the style of the building to be subject
to.the approval of the Chairman of the Board.
The Board voted to approve the salary of $500. per year for
Health Inspector, Russell I. Prentiss.
In regard to the building line on Mass. Avenue near the Robbins
Cemetery, it was decided to see if ownership of lot could be obtained
at Registry of Deeds.
