HomeMy WebLinkAbout1926-11-30392 REGULAR 143ETING, November 30, 1926. A regular meeting off' the Board of Selectmen was held at the Selectmen's Office at 7;30 P.M. Messrs. Custance, Burnham, Miles, and Ballard were present. The Supt, of Public '?corks and the Clerk were also present. The records of last meeting were read and approved. It was voted to transfer from the Sewer Assessment fund to Sewer Construction fund the sum of $1380.00. This transfer is to be made to cover the cost of extension of sewer in Slobum Road. The Board discussed the matter of the sale of the property at 516 Massachusetts Avenue. Information had been obtained from some of the citizens of the town who felt that the town should not go into the real estate business and attempt to rent the property. Mr. W. Roger Greeley suggested that the property be sold to perhaps a few of the Lexington residents who would repair and restore the house to its condition before the French roof was put on, and who would sell the property only upon the ninety-nine year restriction which exists on the property around the Common. A report from Dr. William L. Barnes, Health Officer, was read on the Fardy case. He explained in his letter that the child ill with Scarlet Fever had been isolated with a special nurse from the rest of the family, and in all cases of this kind the parties are allowed to go to and from the house. It is only in cases where the mother has to Jjo about the house to do housework, that the people are not allowed to enter the house. The Board signed a imommitment of $1212.40 to the Tax Collector for the collection of sewer assessments on Curve Street. Military Aid statement granted to Wallace A. Solomon was signed so that reimbursement for the amount of $30.00 would be received by the Town. Mr. Francis Toye of 3 Ames Avenue came before the Board in re- gard to the collection of garbage. He was informed that the Board is securing information in reference to garbage collection and when this information is obtained from the citizens, the same will be filed for reference, and the matter will probahly be taken up at the annual town meeting. Letter was received from which they called attention to resolution was that they felt from the State of their share returned to the Town Treasure lower. The Board was entirely in that the $11,170 that the Town Treasury. the Boston Real Estate Exchange iri the resolution of the exchange. The that the town should apply the return of the five millon dollars which was Treasurer so that the 1927 tax rate would be sympathy with this project, and felt received should be placed in the Town The Board signed a statement of award of damages to property on Bedford Street along the route where the new state highway was constructed this year from the Boston & Maine R. R. Crossing to near M 7 1 393 the Davis Estate on Bedford Street. -The Board felt that the land taken should be paid for at the rate of 10X a foot except in the caseā€¢of the Whitaker and Davis land. ' Cdr. W. Roger Greeley, architect for the Isaac Harris Cary Trustees, came before the Board to discuss the plan for the proposed office building in cannection with the Memorial Cary building. Several suggestions were made to Mr. Greeley in regard to the lay- out of the offices, and Mr. Greeley agreed to make further study and present a plan with suggested changes to the Board at a later date.
