Verbal permission was requested from Mrs. Bridget Leary, 23 'T1
Waltham Street, to move the building located
et the corner of Waltham Street and Mass. Avenue to Woburn Street.
The Board considered the matter and voted not to grant her permission.
Petition WPB received from the Boston & Maine Transportation
Company for permission to run their busses over the State Road from
the Lincoln Line to Massachusetts Avenue, and over Maple Street and
Summer Street to the Arlington Line . No action was taken on the petition.
It was voted to grant a license to the Middlesex & Boston St. Ry.
Co. to operate busses in Lexington for the year ending May 1, 1927 .
The Middlesex & Boston St. Ry. Co. requested copies of their
license previously granted to them so that they might present the same
to the Public Utility Commission when they go before them on June 2nd
to secure a permanent permit to operate busses.
A letter was received from Mr. Ryder of the Boston & Maine R. R.
Co. in which he requested the abatement of the taxes on the land
assessed as 34, 438 eq. ft. on a valuation of $8, 610 ,00 in exchange for
the use of the driveways into the depot, and that the town maintain the
driveways et its own expense.
After consideration of the matter the Board decided that this wee
a proposition that should be presented to the town, but felt they would
be within their province to patch the driveway at the town' s expense
since it is now in a deplorable condition. The Boston & Maine R. R. Co.
were therefor informed that the matter would be brought up at the town
meeting, and in the meantime the town would repair the drivewsy at its
own expense.
The Chairman of the Board reported that the State Department of
Public Works required the State highway now being conetructfd on Bedford
Street, from the Boston & Maine R. R. tracks to Warren Davis' , be laid
out 60 ft. wide. Mr. Custance reported that he endeavored to have a
conference with the State Department but had been unable to arrange the
same as yet. He stated that he would endeavor to present the proposition
of establishing building lines on Bedford Street rather than making a
taking by the County, and causing this additional expense to the town.
The Board felt that if the State would accept this proposition, it would
it be very feasible.
Plans were presented by the Lexington Building Trust for the
approval of Blake Road. The Town Engineer was present and informed the
Board that the plans presented were not sufficiently accurate to file in
their office. He also informed the Board that the Building Trust have
not filed other plane which have been promised for at least two years.
In view of this fact the Board requested the Town Engineer to write to
the Building Trust giving them a detail of whet plans were necessary to
be filed in the office and also requesting the proper information on the
plan of Blake Road.
The meeting adjourned at 11 P.M.
