"17 A special meeting of the Board of Sele tmen was held in the Selectmen' s Room Town Hall, Lexington, on Friday, May 7, 1926, at 5 P.M. Messrs.Roam, Burnham, Miles, and Robertson were present, the Superintendent of Public Works and the clerk were also present. Mr. Drew, President of the Middlesex & Boston St. Ry. Co., Mr. Hanson, General Manager, and Mr. Griffin, Superintendent of the local division, came before the Board to discuss the problem of transportation. They gave statements as to the number of passengers carried on thezones from Arlington Heights to Concord. They made statements in regard to the reliability of the Lovell Bus Line, Inc. to give service on the State Road and make it pay. They felt that there wee something underlying his proposition. The substance of their proposition' to the Board wee that they would rather not give any service on the State Road. They could not give hourly service from Concord to Arlington Heights. They were willing to cooperate and give some service to the people of the vicinity of the State Road, but they suggested their trips from Arlington Heights to Lexington Center thence over Waltham Street to the State Road and up the State Road to Five Forks corner giving service in the morning and evening and, if necessary, through the day. They also felt they could make connection with the Lovell Bus in Concord. The Bdecided to take up the matter at their meeting on Tuesday evening, May 11 . Meeting adjourned at 7 :15 P.M.
