The Board appointed J. Chester Hutchinson,Theodore A. Custanee and William S. Scamman as the committee to represent the Board and so notified the Board of Trade. W Sydney R. Wrightington, Town Counsel came before the Board in regard to the McCaffrey case. He stated that IJr. Bidwell was ill and it was doubtful whether or not he would be able to to be well enough to handle the case. he stated that Daniel J. O'Connell, attorney for McCaffrey was pushing the case and.he desired to know what the Board wanted done. The question of placing a sewer up there was discussed, but it was felt that even at a cost of 610,,000 the sewer would not take care of the surface drainage that was flowing into the brook through the McCaffrey land down on to the Aldrich property. Mr. '.'Irightington stated that P;Ir. Bidwell had made 40 exceptions to the report of the Vaster on the McCaffrey case and that he could possibly argue the case on the exceptions, but to his opinion the exceptions were not very . sound. The Board advised t+ir. '."•Jrightington to continue the case as the matter of settlement was very remote owing to the fact that h:r. Aldrich desired so much for the prose rty he claimed was damaged. Bids were received for $125,000.00 town notes. The lowest bid was 4.11 from the First National Bank. The Lexington Trust Co. bid 4.12% and as the number of notes they would issue would be very small the cost to the town would be less if their bid was accepted. The bid of the Lexington Trust Co. was therefor accepted. 1 Letter was written to ,ir. Hobert P. Clapp, Chairinan of the Trustees of the Isaac Harris Cary Fund in which the Board expressed the opinion that the matter of using the fund for a memorial building was not dealt with in the proper manner at the town meeting inasmuch as there were few people at the meeting. The Board expressed the desire that the Trustees delay action on I building the memorial as described in the ':"Jill until such time as the matter can be taken up at town meeting.
