MEETING, NNE 9, 1925. '
A meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held in the
Selectmen's Room, Town Hall, Lexington, on Tuesday, June 9,
1925, at 8 P. M. The following members of the Board were pre-
sent, Messrs. Burnham and Custance.
No official action was taken on subjects owing to the
fact that only two members of the Board were present.
Owing to the fact that Hugh D. McIntosh had been granted a
Building Permit for his store, which was just outside of the
business system of the Zoning Law, before the Zoning Law went
into effect, it was decided to grant him a permit for a Common
Victualler's License.
Request was received from Mrs. T. L. Jenks of Concord Ave.,
for an electric light near her home.
Upon investigation it was found that her property was not
on the public highway and that a light could not be placed
on the private property.
Sydney R. Wrightington, Town Counsel, came before the '
Board and informed them that $p500 had been left to the Town
and that no specific purpose had been stated for its use.
It was decided to insert an article in the Warrant asking
that the town accept this fund as the Orrin Fiske fund, in
honor of the name of the donor.
The Town Counsel was asked to give an opinion as'to whether
or not the town advertising could legally be placed in the
Lexington Minute -man rather that. the Lexington Times.
It was decided to insert an article in the Warrant asking
that the former Selectmen, namely Albert B. Tenney, Joseph R.
Cotton, William S. Scamman and Sallie C. Blake be reimbursed
$50 for legal services paid by them to Johnson, Clapp, Ives
and Knight to protect themselves from action brought by Daniel
J. O'Connell in the case of McCaffrey vs Town of Lexington.
Permission was granted to the Middlesex & Boston St. Rwy Co.
to run busses on Clarke Street and Forest and Muzzey Streets
during the week of the Pageant.
The Supt. of Public Works announced that the bids for
the sewer on Hancock Street were rec_uested and would be received
at a later date.
Letter was received from Mrs. George H. Jackson of '
34 Parker Street,,thanking the Board for the flowers sent in
memory of her husband who was an ex Assessor of the town for
a number.of years.
The Board revised the Jury List in accordance with the
law adding the required names.
' Several licenses and special police commissions for the
pageant were bigned by the Board.
