A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held in the Selectmen' s Room, £'own hall , Lexington, on Tuesday, August 12 , 1924 at 8 P. u.. I'he following members of the Board were present, namely Messrs. Burnham, Moulton, Cuetance and Liles . The Aes ' t Town Clerk was also present. hearing was declared open upon application of C. F Mille of Concord Avenue for permission to erect a public garage on hie premises . hr . Mills appeared for his petition and brought with nim a letter from Lre . Lary C . Litchell in which she stated that she had no objection to the garage being erected. Application of Gilliam J. Bailey for a ela.ughter license was refused by the board. Application for a peddlers licence for Theodore ;iheffres , 28 Sylvia St. was signed by the Board. Application for a peddlers licence for Michael A. Pero , Jr . was signed so that Charles G. Richards' license could be trans- ferred to him. Application for a Common Victualler ' s License was made by B . Feeney of Woburn to do business at 229 Lase . Avc . Lexington. This application was held up pending investigation by the Chief of Police . Petition of the Edison Electric Illuminating Company to attach its wires and fixtures to the existing poles of the Middlesex and Boston Street Railway on Massachusetts Avenue opposite Liebeth Street , one pole , 51277 . Request was received from Michael Carroll for a permit to sell vegetables from a road aide etand on Waltham Street . The Board informed him that they could not grant any license for the sale of vegetables on Sundays . The application of Mrs . Lillian J . Pratt , of 11 Packard Ave. , Somerville for permission to have a Common Victualler' s Licence was refused. Letter was received from the Town Accountant in which he called attention to the fact that there ie need of borrowing $100,000 . The Board authorized the Treasurer to get bids on this loan. Charles E. Hadley was appointed a Special Police Officer of the Town so that he may be able to arrest peddlerowithout licensee . 191 Mr . Jamee Irwin reported that he was unable to collect ' dog licensee and the Chief of Police. Edward Leavitt , war therefor appointed to collect the licensee . Applications for boardirg infants were rigned for Ire . Elizabeth l'urton of Francis St. and 1.ire . Alice Frost of Allen Street. Lir . Burnham reported that the Grand Army were to meet at the riuckma.n Tavern- on 'Thursday afternoon and asked that the Selectmen meet with them. at 4 o'clock . n+ir. Burnham reported that Wilber F . ttwood agreed to resign hie position as Director of Home Lconomice for the position of negietrar,of Voters. Letter was received from Jay U . Richards . Agent for the London Guarantee & Accicent Ins . Co . in regard to the claim of Arthur Goseom, employee of the town who fell from a team on March 10th and who is still in the iilaee . Homeopathic Hospital and has not received compensation. It was decided that the Supt . of Public Works should go to see Gossom and explain to him that he would have to make a claim to the Industrial Accident Board for his injury.
