HomeMy WebLinkAbout1924-07-22M&* ..r MEETING. JULY 229 1924. ' A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held in the Selectmenle Room, Town Hall, Lexington, on Tuesday, July 22, 1924, at 8 P. M. The following members of the Board were present; namely, Messrs. Burnham, Moulton, Cuetance, Hutchinson, and Miles. The A0e't Town Clerk was also present. Hearing was declared open upon application of Joseph Balonoff of 49 Sylvia St, Lexington, for permission to build ai.third class garage. Mr. Balonoff appeared for the petition. No one appeared to obtect and it was therefor voted to grant.ris petition. Hearing was declared open upon application of William G. witph his permibeion to erebt a Vaealinte etat ion In connection garage on Bow Street. Mr. Murphy presented sketch showing the proposed location of tank. This appeared to be on "venue. The Board suggested a location back of the house and near the garage on Bow Street. Lr. Murphy felt that this location would deprive them of their clothes yard. The Board, after considering the matter, notified Mr. Murphy that they would not grant a location for the tank on buss. Avenue, but they would hold the hearing open if he , should decide he wanted a tank placed next to the garage. alcohol License was granted to the Lexington Hardware and Supply Co. of 428 Mass, Ave. Guide Licensee were issued to Clarence Bentley and Richard Hughes. Attachment order was granted to the Edison Electric Ill. Co. of Boston to attach wiree to the Kiddlesex & Boston Street Railway Companyp on braes. Avenue near Maple Street, 2 poles, 51-183 and 184. Attachment order was -leo granted to the Edison Elec. Ill, Co. to attach to N. E. T. & T. Co. on Middle Street, 91 poles. Letter was received from iTillard Hayden, Jr. in which he suggested that the town adopt the seal as changed for use on the Book of 'iYords. The Board took no action in the matter. Letter was received from Robert L. nyder objecting to a Common Victualler's Licenee being granted to the Mohawk Country Club to do business at the Cary Farm. ' P;Ir. Ryder was notified that the Board refused the appli- cation of this club as many complaints were received in regard to same. Mr. Julius I. Berne, Secy of the Mohawk Country Club was notified that the board voted not to grant a Common Victuallerie 1 L 1 1 License to the club. Sunday Sales License was granted to Anna A. Hannaford to do buaineee on the State Road. Arthur K. Marshall & Son were authorized to renew Compensation Insurance on the Tree 'Y+arden'e Department. The Board approved the granting of a peddler's license to S. Demetri of 136 Chambers St, Boston. Letter was received from William F. Williams, Conmiiesioner of Public Worke, in which he stated thAt.the work on the cattle pass at F. h. Reed's on Lowell Street would be done as soon as the water dried up. The Board replied to the letter stating that the land was now dry so that the work dould be done. Mr. Reed was sent a copy of the letter. Attention was called to the condition of the property at the corner of Spring and Middle Streets owned by William A. Granfield, The Chief of Police,, acting as Health Inspector was requested to have the place cleaned up. Legal opinion was received from Robert P. Clapp on the matter of filing of Bond or InPurance Policy with the town of Lexington by the Middlesex & Boston Street Railway Company. Mr. Clapp suggested a than)Re in the regulations and passed upon the form of Insurance Policy that should be filed. Meeting adjourned at 10 o'clock P. M. A true record, Attest: Clerk.
