CORRESPONDENCE Mrs. Litchfield has written to Mr. Ayers regarding a
question which he had asked regarding plans for a unit of past marchers
Chmn. Barnes gave letters regarding parade participtItion by the
Marines, and by the Royal North Carolina Highland Regiment to the
Chief Marshal for his further attention.
CONCORD LIASON Chmn. Barnes reported on. a meeting which he bold
with John Damon of Concord Primary attention was paid to an attempt
to share information regarding military unit participation and poten—
tial expenses. At present, the Army units invited are confirmed with
the exception of test Point; attempts are being made to cut down the
estimated 83500 bill. Ft,. Devens will house and seed the cadets due
to come Devens has also agreed to provide room and board for 65
Marines. Passage of an Act of Congress is necessary to obtain the
Marine Band; if this is not accomplished, there seems to be a good
chance to obtain the Marine Drum and Bugle Corps from Quantico
The National Guard Band plans to participate in both Lexington
and Concord; separate marching units have been assigned to the two
towns,
ARMBANDS: Mr. Gaughan initiated a discussion of the possibility of
ordering special Bicentennial armbands for the parade staff,
TCC—LBC Joint Meeting Included in the discussions were Paul Revere's
Midnight ride, the Post—parade Reception (arrangements to be made by a
committee composed of one member each from the TCC,LBC, Chamber of
Commerce) , guests to be invited and the possibility of arranging for
a roped off area for overflow seating, and, finally, general agreement
that the TCC—LBC arrangements would terminate at the conclusion of
this fiscal year, with the TCC to resume traditional responsibilities
on July 1, 1975
The next joint meeting will be held on January * 1975.
