the Rotary Club of Cambridge
MINUTES The minutes of November 14 were approved,
CORRESPONDENCE Chmn. Barnes noted the following letters
1) From Bookman Ayers of Keene, 11.H inquiring as to wnether or not there were any
plans being made to have a marching unit of individuals who had taken part in the
Sesquicentennial parade. Mr Ayers would be interested in marching with such past
paraders Mrs Litchfj els. will. respond; ;be letter will go to Chief Marshal Broderick
for further. consideration;
2) A copy of a letter from Mr. Tarlin to the T+.'ustses of Public T usts sesking use of
certain. funds to offset Bicentennial e :penses
3) JSBCC minutes of October 30, 1974 which also included information regarding military
units which are being assigned to Lexington and Concord
In response to a question as to other units which might be already planning 'to
come to Concord, in addition to the mil tart' units, Chmn Barnes said that he would
contact John Damon to see just what Concord does have firmly committed at the present
BICENTENNIAL. Mr. Sakey visited the TCC to ask for any possible help which we
could give hin in. the way of references, printed materfa', etc.as the Rotary Club
of Cambridge weeks to sparkplug the organization of a parade to be held on July 4,
1975. As a member of the executive board of the Cambridge Bicentennial Committee,
Mr. Sakey had noted the spirit and success of .Lexington's annual Patriots Day
parades. it was suggested that he would wish to spear tn_'.:a! Chief Tar. ,hal Broderick,
as the latter has experience both with planning and organizing Lexington celebrations
Mrs Mitchell will wend several rosters and check! sts used in the past years
BUDGET The committee discussed projected TCC expenses for the fiscal year which,
begins on July 1, 1975 It was agreed that the 1976 Patriots Day celebratihon
should revent to the normal pattern at that time The committee agreed that a
sum of 87500.00 would be submitted for in.clusinn in the warrant for the 1975 Town
Meeting.
Preceding adjournment, the committee was most pleased to be visited by
Rev. Harold T. Handley, who gave an informal overview of ongoing Bicentennial
plans with which be was most familiar.
