Mr. Gaughan, Mr „ Litchfield, Mrs McGonagle, Mrs Mitchell, Mr. Brenchick, Mr Fitzgerald Guests Linda Conrad (LWTV) , B113 Lancaster (_.exington patriot) VETERANS DAY Mrs. Litchfield reviewed the list of units which had accepted our invitation to participate in the October 28 parade and ceremonies, Mrs McGonagle said that the speaker of the day will come from the Regional Office of the Veterans Administration in Bos- ton; his name should be available by Tuesday, October 15. Mr. Gaughan noted that Chief Marshal Charles Thomann, Commander of Post #3007, VFW, had been asked verbally; a letter is in order, requesting that Commander Thomann be responsible [or appointing his Aides Final de,- ,a;.l.s regarding arrangements will be complete before the meeting of October 17. There was agreement that special note would be taken during, both parade assembly and the parade itself of supervision and horsemanship displayed by the 4H horse club. A decision regarding possible par- ticipation of horses in both morning and afeernoon iatriots Day parades was postponed, pending this review PATRIOTS DAY Just prior to the start of the meeting, Chief Marshal Broderick spoke with Chairman Barnes and other TCC members informally. He noted that response from marching units was e cellont and noted the method by which he is tabulating replies Chmn. Barnes summarized a report of an evaluation of Concord s communications plans prepared by an Army Reserve Team of public af- fairs consultants some weeks ago. In addition, he noted that, al.-- though Mr. Camp was not present at this meeting, the TCC had asked for his assistance in planning a detailed breakdown of work to be done by the committee. The chairman read a prelimjnari anal„zsis q1 reseonsibilities for the morning parade which he had prepared and noted that all events would need a similar detailed analysis Mr. Brenchick reported on the Float fl ksholt, saying that response had been excellent; that there had been a request ger a follow-up session later this winter; and,, if all who participated in the workshop actually entered floats the usual Worthen Road assembly area might not prove adequate. Tentative suggestions for alternate arrangements were considered briefly; however, until the actual number and size of floats is Known more definitely, no decisions were reached. Mr Brenchick also' noted that Mr. Cronin of the Chamber of Com- merce had been at the meeting, and had announced that cash prizes, rather than trophies, would be awarded in the three competitions for local entries Rules regarding size of floats and size of lettering were stressed to all in attendance. Mr B: enchi.ck also reported the gift of two copies of a parade "how-to-do-it" book by Mr. Bogk for use by the committee. OTHER BUSINESS Mrs Litchfield has had another statement from the Merrifield Bus Co. of Athol Both the TCC Annual Report and a budget estimate for 1975.4976 need to be prepared.
