Leahy Chief of Staff Turner Mr. Tar.li>a PATRIOTS DAY Final deta._1: of Patriots Day ceremonies were discussed and arrangements for morning paraoo cancellation revievEd. Clamp Barnes ex— plained the reasons for changing the corning ceremonial schedule Some additions and deletions to the afternoon parade router were noted. The Chairman also stated that Mi . Michelson of the LBCCor poratien had requested that their, 'medallion_' float be allowed to appear in the morning parade as well as the afternoon event. The committee had no objections in addition, the Chairman noted that he had been contacted by a represente.ti -e of Aleppo Temple regarding our decisions regarding parade entry and that he had re— viewed with Mrs. Berkowitz the situation regarding concessions to be operated in the parade assembly atea. It was noted that since the Grotto Oriental Band would not be allowed to enter the parade line of mar :h at Massachusetts Avegue and Marrett Road, this unit would probably met appear. Chief Marshal Leahy noted that there was good attendance at the April. 6 parade staff meeting, that David ,Moshor would be replaced by Harvey Smiths and that Third Division Marshal Coates had made plans whereby each of the float entries in this division would be accompanied by am aide who would assume responsibility for proper progress . The Chief Marshal also remarked that there would be nine Girl Scouts available to wet as Aides; however, finding young people to serve in this capacity seemed to present some dif— ficulties. The committee agreed •that, those Aides were mstst helpful and that Bicentennial preparation shnuld include consideration of members of other youth organizations if necessary Mr. Tarlin meted that his research had indicated that the leex?ngten afternoon parade is indeed large in terms of parade participants ; effective organization is ma€adaatery. Arrangements for luncheon and pest—parade reception were reviewod,es well as parking arrangements for the Honorary Chief Marshal and other re— viewing stand guests. The Chief Marshal has arranged to meet with Captain Lima at 3pm on April 12 for a review of all necessary police assistance which will be needed MEMORIAL DAY No Chief Marshal has yet been selected; M: . Brenchick will servo as Master o±' Ceremonies The three secret; ries will be responsible for inviting participation by the various youth groups.
