card to him on behalf of the TCC
It has been requested that the TCC change meeting scheduled in Room G-15 from
Thursday to Tuesday evenings, as a conservation measure Individual committee
members are not able to rearrange their personal schedules; however all agreed
that an alternate meeting place would be most acceptable if one could be found,
Mrs Litchfield will contact Mrs Grenier at the Town Office Building to see what
heated rooms of suitable size to accommodate guests could be used on Thursday
evenings Mrs Mitchell will assist in contacting the full TCC If there is a
change made before January 10,

Chmn, Barnes reminded the TCC that ringing of the Belfry bell at 6 00 AM is
the traditional opening of Town••sponsorod events each April and should be so
noted on all schedules, Ne also commented that Fiske Hill ceremonies jointly
sponsored by Lexington and Concord take place in Minuteman National Park; the
current Park Director should be an honored guest at these ceremonies.
The committee agreed ;.slat discussions with the IgzApneteaillUiptAlien regarding
plans for 1974 would be necessary Kra L tchfield will contact } r Jack

The committee reviewed a list of military units which have T.aeched in the. after-
noon parade. It was agreed that Mrs, .Litchfield should contact the following tor
participation in 1.974.

Gloucester High School ROTC
Methuen High School Cadet Corps
There was general discussion of a parade theme and of an individual to serve as
Chief Marshal in 1974. Committee members are to bring their suggesticlna for both
to the January 10 meeting, It was noted that past Chiet Marshals had been pri-
m.rily responsible for naming their own a:.dos however, since the TCC is concerned
with finding the atrongest possible group preparatory to 1975, su.!nbers felt that it
might be advantageous for the committee to take a more active role in the selection
of the full staff this year. Mr. Lord commented that this early selection of all
would allow them to join with us in overall parade planning.
BICENTENNIAL
Two copies of a document regarding Federal matchingmgrant funding for projects
under the National Bicentennial Program, along with a covering letter from Hr Tarlin,
were scanned by the committee. There was general agreement that TCC Bicentennial
responsibilities did not seem to fall into areas appropriate for such funding.
Chain. Barnes reponted that $15,000 is the projected budget request to be made
by the LBC to cover TCC parade responsibilities. This sum presumes that military
invitees will pay their own expenses that expenses for public health and safety
will be budgeted separately, and that invitations, receptions, mementoes, etc will
be carried as LBC expense,
Mrs. Litchfield has been in consultation with the LBC invitations subcommittee
regarding VIP invitations
Chmn. Barnes announced that the LBC has asked the TOC to make a:.rangerxents for
the arrival of Paul Revere at Midnight, April 18. 1975 He suggested that this
could be done well by the Minute Men and the committee agreed that they should be
requested to do so. Cooperation with the Lexington Historical Society would be
needed to stage a proper reenactment of events of the night preceding the Battle
reenactment.
Bands to be invited weie discussed, tb tea suggested that the LBC should be
contacted now regarding representation to be requested from the 13 colonies. In-
vitations should be issued this year so that out-of-state groups could arrange their
own funding. Commercial sponsorship of bands and floats was also mentioned briefly
Respectfully submitted,
