HomeMy WebLinkAbout1924-05-201'77 ,MEETING, MAY 20, 1924. A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held in the Selectmen's Room, Town Hall, Lexington, on Tuesday, May 200 19240 at 8 P. M. The following members of the Board were present; namely Messrs, Burnham, Moulton, Custance, Hutchinson and Miles, The Town Clerk and the Town Counsel were also present, Board of Survey hearing was declared open upon the application of ',barren S. Griswold for approval of plans showing lay out of land in North Lexington, off Bedford Street, known as Park Heights, Section 4. Several persons appeared who were interested in the lay out, The Planning Board, however, were not able to make a report -at this time on the matter and the hearing was therefor postponed, the Board agreeing to notify the persons present of the time of postponement, Permit was granted to Mrs. Andrew Hanson of Valley Road for per- mission to erect a one car garage on her premises, Permit wee granted to Ralph H. Marshall to build a two car garage at Hayes Avenue. The High School Cadets requested the use of the Town Hall on May 23rd, free of charge. The Board agreed to allow them the use of the heli provided they would pay for the lights, which charge was $3.00 Willard C. Hill, or Elmer A, Lord & Co. came before the Hoard relative to increasing the amoun tof insurance on the Town property and applying for a new blanket rate, The buildings having been revalued by Mr. A. C. Whitney end Mr. Timothy H. O'Connor, the total valuation of the buildings now amounts to $956585.00. Mr. Hill was requested to bind insurance temporarily for the difference between $719,700 now carried and the new amount. Letter wns received from Frank H. Reed of Lowell St. in which he stP.ted that he did not think there was any question about the fact the.t his cows were bitten by dogs because they died of rabies, Co_0y of Mr. Reed's letter was sent to the County asking their opinion on whether or not they believed Mr. Reed was entitled to his claim. Dr. James J. Walsh was instructed to send Charles DPlfino, 1:) yrs, of Sand Pit Rd. to the Cambridge Tuberculosis Hospital, The Middlesex & Boston Street Railway Company were granted per- mission to maintain a garage and install an underground gasoline tank with a capacity of 10,000 gallons. Letter was received from Charles E. Bentley of 491 Mass. Ave., in regard to bills sent to him for care of his children, Mr. Bent- ley explained that he had P large family and meny bills to pay and he would be glad to pay as much as possible. The Boe.rd decided to give Mr. Bentley more time to pay his bills. Edwin B.
