A quorum was present. Chair Jeri Zeder read the script for remotely conducted open meetings. Members voted unanimously: Coppe Aye, Cohen Aye, Joyner Aye, Quezada, Aye, Zalisk Aye, Zeder Aye. Approval of the August 26, 2024 minutes was moved by Jeri Zeder and seconded by Marian Cohen and voted unanimously. Voice vote: Coppe Aye, Cohen, Aye, Joyner Aye, Quezada, Aye, Zalisk, Aye, Zeder, Aye. "Get Ready to Vote"on September 17, 2024, 2:30-5:00 PM at The Depot, co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Lexington. 12 students volunteered. Four new voters signed up. One checked voter registration. State Representative Michelle Ciccolo took some of the students into the center to distribute flyers. Due to painting at the Depot, the location had to be moved. The new location was not ideal. Students learned how to access the Secretary of State's website to check on voter registration and to register voters. Suggestion was to perhaps run a mini Citizens Academy with emphasis on the mechanics of voting. Question about whether the school curriculum covers voting mechanics. Marian reported that she has been able to extract the report on age distribution in voting, focusing on two debt exclusion elections that had schools on them. She thanked Joe Pato for his help. Marian was asked if she can do similar comparisons in other elections. Eileen will schedule meeting with Town Clerk after the November election to get more information on voter turnout. Discussion Fourth Draft of Proposed Report Marian had a question about differences in turnout when local election is on the same day as presidential primary. Margaret had a question about the statement on page 21 about the Select Board's ability to call special elections for municipal elections. Jeri moved adjournment at 11:03 AM.
