Hearing war declared open upon application of aerley T .Wadman for permi'nion to Alter houre at 23 Hancock street into a four apartment house. Mr. Wadman presented hie plan showing what he intended to do with the property ae a whole if he were allowed to make—th*y make this house into a four apartment. About twenty five residents of the vicinity were present most of whom objected to thie house being made into four apart- ments and alto to the lay out that Mr. '+'adman prevented as they believed it would convict of email houree which would spoil the L_ 169 etreet . Mrs . Martha Jones , Alexander hammer . Philip vlark, Mr©. Jay 0 . Richards . C . Edward Glynn , spoke against the proposition ae they IIbelieved that if the Board allowed a four apartment house that it would be letting down the bare for othere to do the came thing and there war no reason why otherr should not do the same thing if this was allowed. Mr. Wadman stated that he had a plan of three houses to be ret upon the property beside the present house and he believed then this property could be made to bring in sufficient revenue . At the present time the property ie asreared for about $22 ,160 . and brings in only a revenue of $1200. Mr. Hallie C . Blake . stated that he was still the owner of the property but Mr . Wadman had the option on came. He felt that he should realize something on it . Mr . Blake stated that he bought the place for $12 ,000 and spent $5200 making it over into a two epartitentthoure . It is assessed . however, for a great deal more than he paid for it . He felt that there could be no objection to this house being made over as the exterior of the house would be the came . Frederick L. Emery, Chairman of the Planning Board, suggested a conference of the crwnere of the land adjoining, which land might come day be developed in connection with thie property eo that a general lay out of a street connecting all properties later to be laid out could be placed upon paper at this time . thereby saving de&d end rtreete in each property . He etated that with this in view he would call the mrwnerr of the property together on Friday evening next and would report to the Board of Selectmen at their meeting next Tuesday, April 29th, ae to their progreee . With this idea in view, which was catiefactory to Mr. Blake and Mr. Wadman, the Board adjourned the meeting to Tuesday evening . next at 8 30 P . L.. A true record, Atteete Llerk . 1
