Ave. came before the Board relative to the brook which flows through his property in front of his house and along Massachuretta Avenue. He felt that something should be done to clean same. The matter was referred to the Superintendent of Public Works. A petition signed by residents of Crescent Hill Avenue, East Lexington, headed by Dire. oeheatley. asked that investigation be made of the old barn in that vicinity which has been on fire three times and is a menace to the locality. Albert Ross be in charge of the '++ester & Sewer Department at, the same salary now being received, namely, $1900. Hearing war declared open upon application of +Werley T.Vadman for permission to alter house at 23 hancock Street into a four apartment house. +Ir. Wadman presented h1s plan showing what he intended to do with the property as a whole if he were allowed to m&kw-4**, make this house into a four apartment, ' about twenty five reeident of the vicinity were present moat of whom objected to this house being made into four apart- ments and also to the lay out that Mr. +Wadman prevented as they believed it would consist of Pmall houeee which would spoil the street. Mrs. ivartha Jones, Alexander Hammer, Philip Mark, Mrs. Jay 0. Richards, Co Edward Glynno spoke against the proposition as they ' believed that if the Board allowed a four apartment house that it would be letting down the bars for others to do the same thing and there was no reason why others should not do the same thing if this was allowed. Mr. Wadman stated that he had a plan of three houses to be ret upon the property beside the present house and he believed then this property could be made to brim in sufficient revenue. At the present time the property is as reseed for about $22,160, and brings in only a revenue of $1200. Mr. Hallie C. Blake, stated that he was still the owner of the property but kr..i'radman had the option on same. He felt that he should realize something on it. Mr. Blake stated that he bought the place for $12,000 and spent $5200 making it over into a two apartraentthouse. It is assesped, however, for a great deal more than he paid for it. He felt that there could be no objection to this house being made over as the exterior of the house would be the same. Frederick L. emery, Chairman of the Planning Board, suggested a conference of the owners of the land adjoining, which land might some day be developed in connection with this property so that a general lay out of a street connecting all properties later to be laid out could be placed upon paper at this time. thereby saving desid end streets in each property. He stated that with this in view he would call the inm err of the property together on Friday evening next and would report to the Board of Selectmen at their meeting next 'Tuesday, April 29th, as to their progress. With this idea in view, which was satisfactory to llr. Blake and Mr. 7adman, the Board adjourned the meeting to Tuesday evening, next at 8:30 P. L. A true record, Atteet: , Clerk. 1 OR
