A special meeting; of the Board of Selectmen was held in the Selectmen's Room, Tovm hall, Lexington, on Wednesday, January le, 1924, at 9:50 F. — The follo, ving members of the Board were prevent: namely, iersrs, Scamman, 31ake, Burnha-d and Moulton; the Town Clerk was also prevent. After consideration of the hearing on the discharge of Andrew T. Bain, the Board voted not to sustain the charges. The Board also notified ir. Bain that they felt hir work was done in a proper manner and that they ref, retted to lose his services inasmuchas he declined to verve further under Superintendent Rove or Superintendent Harrison. Petition of the Edivon Elec. Ill. Co. for attachment of wirer on pole of the iiddlesex &- BDston St. Ewy Qo. on ?Maes. Ave. near t;ii.ddle ::street was granted. ar. harrivon had requested that the compiling of the Town Report be turned over to the Town clerk after he had started the rale. The Board, however, informed him that he must firish the work as he had started it, he was also requested to report the- ' Department delinquents on the 'Town Reports by Tuesday next. Discussion of the way of handling the water department affairs was entered into with the Supt. of Public +Yorke. Mr. Blake prepared some ruler which he felt should be put into effect, and which read as follows: method of Handling dater Bills by the Tax Collector and According to the By -Laws of the Town of Lexington. +eater Department will take voting list, and put oppo7ite the name, the amount of water bills Due. Thin would be the Tax collector's warrant. If Special .attention is desired on any particular amount, Let the Memorandum be put in Red, with explanations. 3i.11e to be rent out by the 4ater Department as heretofore, and the Warrant gi-*en to the Tax Collector as stated above. As paymente are made, the name can be crossed off of the 'Warrant in Red pencil. Then the time of payment has expired, said 00arrant is returned by the Tax Collector to the Water Department for final notice. Lhia notice is that "Unless tax is paid within ten days, the water will be shut off." After the notice is rent out, the warrant it again returned to the Tax Collect -r and after the ten days have expired, and any ' water tax is still remaining unpaid, the Tax Collector returns the war -rant to the eater Department for final action on their part, i e. turning off the water service. The Town by-laws state plainly what may be done to pr-)perty owners l+ho neglect to pay their water charger. Let us follow H 128 e rc the By -Laws . N.• Under thin Procedure, the collection of water rates will Pori be wholly in the kande of the 'i'ax Collec_or. NO money is collected by the'nater Department pertaining to -rater ra-ter. the above arrangement would seem to me to obviate the , dietreseing conditions that now exi^t. At the next toren meeting an article will be in theTarrant, making water ratee a lien or. the real estate. Suggested that list be printed to correspond vrith the water takers, with room for additional names, before April lst. and the above would be too cramped on voting list. the Board considered the Eules and Regulations in regard to the jitneys drawn up by the Town Couneel, but no d6finite action war taken upon eame. Deeds of land at the corner of r'orest and Luzzey Streets were received from Frederick L. Lmery. the Board promised to remove the hump that Lr. Lmery called to their attention in 1924, and on that condition he turned the deeds over. ,n true record,-,ttert: Clerk. 1
