Ellen called the meeting to order at 7 35 The first order of business was the sighing of the acknowledgement of the open meeting law Each member df the Commission is required to read the open meeting law (effective Jan 1, 1975) and must sign the acknowledgement of its receipt. If you were not at the last meeting, there are copies of these papers enclosed to be read, filled out and returned Ellen reported that Mary and Cindy Lescalleet will meet with a representative from the Minuteman sometime next week The committee's attention was then turned towards the revisions of the By-Laws A brief discussion took place over whether or not we should include a statement concerning the frequency of ourmmeetings The decision was finally made to add the following statements to section 3 (a) . The end of this section should now read "The entire Commission shall be called to meet monthly A quorum shall consist of ten members All meetings shall be open to the public and subject to the open meeting law, " The Commission eventually voted unani- mously to accept the By-Laws with this ammendement, and Mr. Busa will present them to the Board of Selectmen The question of our involvement in Youth Day also sparked a conflict of ideas Mr Busa commented that we should not get involved in too many or too varied projects or none will be too successful Nancy said that if we concentrated too much on Youth day that it would detract from other, more pressing youth issues The question of the actual purpose of the Y C. was raised We are supposed to represent the problems of the youth to the town and promote better communication and relationships between these two We should make sure that there are enough activities for the youth, but not neccessarily plan them ourselves It was decided that the committee was still in favor of a Youth day, but come April, it would not be our major concern, and we will also be involved in more pressing issues Ellen suggested that we move the date out of April, and put it in a month that has few exciting activities Paul suggest- ed that we sponser or oversee Youth events every couple of months. These decisions will be up to the subcommittee which will hopefully consist of outside members interested in planning Youth day. As for the other committees, the Youth Directory needs to get more information from Chris Anderson before they can begin their work Mary and Ellen will talk to Mr O'Connell about our part in the Youth Employment Service Nancy will gather info on a program of the American Bar Assoc. which raises conciousness in Constitutional rights. If this info applies to us, she will present it to us at the next-meeting The meeting was adjourned at 8 40 /VExT MEETAIG- g I UESDAY , DEC. 16 x,30
