PRESENT: Nancy Abelmann, Sue Abkowit2, Joe Barringer, Robert r,
Bayliss, Ruth Beckett, Ellen Boyle, Alfred Busa, Paul

Ferguson, Jeanne Hathaway, Steve Politi, Matt Powers,
Mary Rockwood, Alan Wachman, and Mary Vs Anderson.
The meeting was called to order at about 7 30 pm, The prop-
osal from Mrs . Friedman about the Community Volunteer program was
discussed. This program is designed to help bring the school and ,,'
the community together. It was decided that Mary would contact
Mrs„ Friedman to find out the extent of our involvement in the
program and what is expected of us .4'
It was also decided that a short term subcommittee be formed
to revise the Youth Commission By-Laws. The floor was then opened
to discussion of the other subcommittees.
It was voted that the subcommittee concerning the Minuteman
article about the Youth Commission be made separate from the Youth 4r
Calendar committee. Nancy Abelmann and Sue Abkowitz will try to
get an article in the Minuteman on the Y.C. as often as possible. i.
The Youth Calendar committee will be responsible for finding ,,`.
a qualified youth editor for this part of the Minuteman, They will Ti
also direct the editor for the first few issues and set up contact 4
with youth organizations in the town who want their activities pub- , .
lished in the calendar. <',
Jeanne reported that more information was needed about the
Youth Directory in order to get price estimates. It was voted
unanimously that this project be pursued in the form of a supplement :
to the Minuteman. This way, the Directory would be distributed to
the majority or the 92001 families in Lexington. (80% recieve the ''*
town paper) The cost of a supplement isP60 a

will be responsible not only for finding out more printing details, ' '!;
(size, paper quality, print, specific cost ) , but also for contacting ,.. , 4
organizations who will be represented in the directory.
The Town Government Course was also discussed Mary will �i
meet with Mr. Procter to determine the feasibility of combining -,,, I ,
this course with the Student House Course or making it into a seminar
workshop with speakers and field trips to other towns as part of 1T r',
Max-Ed. She will also _contact the Community Relations Committee I. .e
about this topic . au,
Attached is a list of subcommittees. If yog were not at the
last meeting, please consider which subcommittee you would like to
work on. This is important because at the next meeting, we will ),
break off into these subcommittees to work. l

The TOWN REPORT subcommittee will meet at Mary Rockwood's
house, 14 Demar Road, on Tuesday, October 28, at 7 30pm.
The Youth Commission will be presenting their report to the
Board of Selectmen on Monday, October 27, at 8 30 pm.
The Executive Board is expected to attend.
