HomeMy WebLinkAbout1975-05-15-YC-min.pdf LEXINGTON YOUTH COMMISSION MINUTES May 15, 1975 PRESENT: Sue Abkowitz, Chris Anderson, Alfred Buss, Paul Furdon, Verna Frasca, Doug Gallager, Jeanne Hathaway, Alex- ander Liazos, Myron Miller, Steve Moore, Paul Goldmuntz, Matt Powers, Madelyn Quinlan, Mary Rockwood. Steve Moore presented his proposal to send a letter to the Board of Selectmen recommending that there be an investiga- tion into the incident of May 2, 1975. The proposed letter, which read as follows, was approved by a vote of 6 in favor, 2 opposed, and 2 abstaintions. The Youth Advisory Commission does hereby recommend that there be an investigation into the incident which occured on the night of Friday, May 2, 1975, at the Brenner home on Adams Street. We believe the situation warrants a close scrutiny of the facts and accountings to contribute to the overall picture of police-youth relations in the town of Lexington. In addition, the Commission recommends that a cit- izen committee, including at least one member of each of the following groups, sit with the Selectmen in their deliberations on the matter. Youth Advisory Commission Police Department Althogh the Commission approved the proposal, the Board of Selectmen had already made the decision to have .r people come before the Board on appointment only, with a limit to five people to a group.
