The meeting started with the announcement that the Youth Dinner and the GYBSO concert have been canceled. The GYBSO director has said that they would like to perform a concert in Lexington, but they can not do it on the 21st because it is school vacation and many of the members have made other plans. Theywould like to put on a concert some time later in the season when the entire orchestra can be assembled. The Youth Dinner was canceled because we could not use the Regional Vocational School, and it is rather late to begin looking into using Diamond. Steve Moore received a letter from Mr. Hall at the Vocational School saying that they would not be able to cook the dinner or waive the fee for renting the cafeteria. The football field has been reserved for the soccer game. Mr. Bertini sent Chris a letter confirming it, and Mr. Lord now knows about it. Mr. Fontas has been making arrangements with Mr Smith in Concord. Uniforms are taken care of, but there is still a question about referees. The girls° soccer game will be at 9a.m. and the boys, game will be at 10:30 a.m. During the break between the two games, the Lighter-Than -Air-Society will send up a balloon. It will take them at least half an hour to inflate the balloon, send it up and fly it, and to deflate it and disassemble it The deadline on the Essay Contest has been extended until April 19th. Mr Barnes did send a letter to all the schools with a copy of the rules, and he will send out more copies to be put in the main office of the schools Sue Abkowitz is in charge of making sure it is announced on the P. A. at LHS. And Jeanne Hath- away and Jeff Hanson are in charge of making sure that announcements are made at their junior highs The Talent Show is going along smoothly. Acts have signed up for the show, but Doug and Mary will be speaking to groups in the high school ( ie music teachers, music groups, Senior and Junior Shows, Drama Club, gymnastics. ) to make sure that they are aware of the show. The concert is up in the air at the moment. Although every- one agreed that it would be our biggest attraction, there is a risk involved in having it School Dances at the high school have been canceled for the rest of the year because of problems of vandalism and drugs in the parking lots If the LHS Administration agree to let us use the auditorium and the LBC okays it, the group will be the Parker Road Band It will be a 3 hour concert, 7 :30-10 30, and the band charges $200. It was estimated that we would need 12-15 policemen. At the end of the meeting the by-laws were discussed. The Commission will not change in size next year. At the high school new members will be chosen by interview, but there are still many details to be worked out The next YC meeting will be on Thursday, April 3 at 7 15 in G15 of the Town Office Building. There will also be a meeting on April 10 and probably again on April 17.
