HomeMy WebLinkAbout1923-10-09 95 MEETING, OCTOBER 9 , 1923. A regular meeting of the Board of belectmen was held in the Selectmen' s Room, Town Hall, Lexington, on Tuesday, October 9, 1923 , at 8 P . M. The following members of the Board were present , namely Messrs . Scamman , Blake, Hutchinson and Burnham. The Town Clerk, Aes 't Town Clerk and Town Counsel were also preeent. Hearing was declared open upon the application of Patrick Cronin of 14 Utica Street for permission to erect and maintain a two car garage . No one appeared to object and it was voted to grant the permit subject to the approval of the Fire Chief. Mr. George H. Pierce of kiddie Street together with his Attorney, Daniel J . O' Connell, appeared for the hearing on Mr . Pierce' s Common Victuller' s License . Complaints having been received about the way Mr. Pierce has been doing business from Mr. Neil McIntosh, both Mr. Pierce and Mr. McIntosh were requested to appear before the Board. Mr . O 'Connell requested further time so that he could get witnesses at the meeting. The Board therefor agreed to postpone the meeting to October 23, 1923 at S P . M. Letter was received from the Boston & Maine RR Co . in which they referred to the conference between Mr. Scamman, Chairman of the Board, Mr. Robinson of the Breck-Robinson Nursery Company and t1ieir representative and asking for a confirmation of the solution reached in regard to the installation of boards at the grade crossing. The Board acknowledged receipt of same and confirmed the con- ference. Notice was received from the State Sanatorium that Marie ; 'Neil was readmitted to the Sanatorium September 18 , 1923 . The Board voted not to allow Basket Ball in the Town Hall this year. The American Legion and the Lexington High School were therefore notified. It was voted to grant a Sunday Sales license to Mary A. Rowland of Lowell St. The Supt . of Public shorks questioned the Board as to whether or not Mise Boyd , Clerk of the Water Dept. should open the mail addressed to the Water Department. He thought as Mr. Earle was col- lector of water rates that he should open the mail . The Board informed Mr . Harrison that Miss Boyd was hired to do that work and that she should open the mail . Some general matters in regard to the hiring of the Town Hall for entertainments, repairing leaks in the Stand-pipe and road matters were discussed. The meeting adjourned at 8 o' clock P . M.
