A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen and Public Works
i -an held in the Selectmen's Aoom, Town Hall, Lexington, on Tuesday,
Auguet 289 1923 at 8 P. '. The following members of the Board were
present, namely ;:Messrs. Scarman, Blake, Burnham and Hutchinson; the
Town Clerk `vas also prevent.
Lester T. Redman wae drawn as a Juror for the September
Criminal Session a t Lowell.
It was voted not to renew $2.5,000 fire insurance with
B. -'. Brown F: Sons, (Baler, Carney, Liffler & Co.) policy #113774
exDiring Sept. 20, 1923.
The Board voted to place $15,000 fire insurance through the
office of George w. Taylor &. Son., and $10.000 fire insurance through
the office of Jay 0. Richards, beginning; at noon on wept. 20, 1923,
for a term of five years, schedule form.
It was voted to renew with Elmer A. Lord & Co. policy ;#4815986
for $20,000, fire insurance expiring September 22, 1923, also to

renew with nrthur ". Larshall & Son policy ?1813463 for $5000,fire
insurance, expiring.September 22, 1923.
:i request to the Board by Lary A. Rowland corner of Lowell St.
and Bartlett =Lvcnue, for a hearing on the refusal of the 3oard to
grant her a Sunday Sales License. was referred to the Chief of
Police to investigate and report on the advisability of granting
such a license at this location.

The Catholic Club of Lexington was granted permission to hold
their field Lay on the Centre Play urourds, Labor Lay, Sept, 3,19.23 ,
and the following persons were appoirted Special Police Officers for
that day.

-r. Robert L. Ryder came before the Board for information in
regard to lay out, made by the Board of Survey, of the 100 ft, strip '
of lanai from 14aes. nve. to 'Vine Brook =gid.
He wished to know if the town was going to take a taking of
this land by the brook, as they had an opportunity to develop part
of thio tract of land by the erection of two houses.
He also said hie company had lowered and cleaned Vine Brook
where it flowed throuv,,h thio property, but the water was held back
by that part of the brook between !,:ase. Ave. and 6herman St. which
ehould be cleaned out, enlarged and lowered.
'ThP Board agreed to place articles covering these two subjects
in the. 'Warrant for the next town meeting. W_r. ni,Tder said he would
prepare the articles in conjunction with fir. Harrison.
The Board authorized a temporary revenue loan of $75.000
maturing Feb. 15, 1923, and requested the 'Treasurer to procure bids
for the same.
fir. narrison read a letter from William . Lyons complaining of
the method of work of special police officer Tho=%n 1P, Fardy. This
letter was referred to the chief of Police.
