PRESENT ; Chmn. Barnes, Mr. Gaughan, Mrs. Litchfield, Mrs. McGonagle,
Mrs . Mitchell, Mr. Brenchick, Mr Fitzgerald, Mr. Flynn, Mr. Turner
MINUTES of the meetings of April 10, epril 17, and April 24, 1975,
were approved.
CORRES 'UNDENCE A letter from Chief Marshal Broderick, thanking the TCC
for asking him to serve in this capacity, was read by Chmn Barnes.
A letter from the Women' s Auxilliary of the Methuen Minute Men re—
garding commerative coins given to Minute Men following the parade was
read and will be forwarded to Capt. Harrigan.
A. letter of appreci. tion from August Busch Co. was received by Mr.
Broderick; who also remarked that he had had a verbal request from, the
Hayden Ice Show asking that they be allowed to borrow our Spirit of '76
costumes for use in their upcoming special Bicentennial show. The 'ICC
had no objections and Mr. Brenchick will be responsible for arrangements.
Bills from Cari.uon's Florists (for 4 memorial wreaths — the 5th,
used by the President) is being contributed by Mr. Carlson; and from
Wright's Bus Line, Inc. for transportation for the Athol High School Band
were noted and will be given to the LBC for payment Additional bills
for stand—by wigs and for signs were also received and forwarded. A
bill from Peterson Chair Company was held by Mr. Flynn, who will check
a;, to details before the TCC sends this bill to the LBC.
Mr. Brenchick also read to the full TCC the letter appearing in
the current issue of the Lexington Minute Man regarding parede approval
which was not granted to the American Legion Post #45 of Medford which
appeared unannounced at the assembly area. Since all pre—parade pub—
licity, as well as the parade orders,clearly stated that no previously
unauthorized units would be allowed to appear, the TCC agreed that it
would make no additional resvonse beyond the comment from the Chairman
which appeared at the conclusion of the published lettere
MEMORIAL DAY The following arrangements will be made Mrs. Litchfield
will contact Hanscom Field to ask if Colonel Jensen will give the address
of the day; she will also ask Rev. Petterson, Rev. Handley and Father
Gaudette to participate in the ceremonies Mrs. Mitchell will contact
Mark Doran to ask him to recite the Gettysburg Address, and, in addition,
ask him to request the Vice President of the Senior Class to read General
Logan's Orders of the Day.
Mrs. Litchfield has contacted the Girl scouts, the 4—B Clubs, and the
Minute Men; she has written to Mr. Gillespie , LBS Band director, and to
the National Guard. She will contact the VFW; Mrs. Mitchell will be re—
sponsible for contacting the Campfire Girls, Hayden, and the Boy scouts.
Mr. Fitzgerald will ask the new Fire Chief, Joseph Marshall, to make
arrangements for members of the fire department to staff the parade. Mrs.
Litchfield will invite the Selectmen to participate; an invitation will be
issued verbally to the LBC at the joint meeting to follow.
Mrs. Mitchell will ask Mrs Glennon to order 5 memorial wreaths (large,
decorated, and on stands) and a bouquet; and the Town Manager's office will
he asked to make necessary arrangements for power and speaker ' s stand.
