Letter was received from the American Legion Lmployment Committee , in which they ask whether or not the Board had any reason for referring back to the Supt . of Public Worke the de- cieion on the discharge of Ldward B. O 'Connor . They replied that their reason for referring the matter back war that they upheld the decision of the Supt . of Public Forks . Mr . Cowdrey of Arlington came before the Board to aak that the water be installed in Hill Top Avenue . The Board in- formed him that this matter would come up at the town meeting and nothing could be done until the Board votes on same . The appointment of an Assessor to succeed Yr. William 1. Reed was laid on the table . The Board granted the following licensee Common Victualler' s License . Lire . Mary A. O 'Neil 51 Mass . Ave . William F. Sim and Herbert L. i:icbonald - 168 Mass . Ave . The Board signed a Warrant for a Town Meeting to be held Lay 7th, 1923, said Warrant containing article for settlement of Breck-Robinson Nursery Co claim. hr. S. h. Sears of the F. h. Birch Co . 367 Boylston St. Boston came before the Board to try to urge the Board to give their approval of the signs at the junction of Lincoln 4- School Ste . and at the northwest car. Mass . Ave . & Sylvia St . both signs being 5 X 5 feet metal face signs , advertising Chelmsford singer Ale . It was left with Mr. Harrison to view the locations and report on same . The Board decided to give a hearing on May 15th to E R Dix of Cambridge for approval of plan of land on North Hancock St. called Lrvir ; ton Park. Letter was received from iilliam Roger Greeley of Somerset Road complaining about the gambling allowed on April 19th at the Legion booths.; on the Buckman Park. He asserted that the Board allowed this gambling to go on. The Board, however , on the other hand replied that they did not license this gambling and further 42 more in the future if they are aware of any Rambling being done 'Z they will endeavor to stop same . List of men eligible for vacations received from the Supt. of Streets orae turned over to the Supt . of Public Works for arrangement of eame for the nen. The Board voted to renew Iorkmen' e Compensation and Lia- bility Insurance on the Sewer Dept. expiring May let , through the office of Edwin B . forthen. The Board also voted to place the Town Doctor on the Com- pensation Pay Roll through the office of Elmer A. Lord & Co . The Board also voted to renew fire insurance on $1000 tools in the building of Edward H Mara. It was also voted to renew liability policy on the Highway Tractor . This policy exrired April 21 , 1923 . .der. Roes , Supt. of Streets came before the Board with the request that he be allowed to turn in the Ford Truck now used by him and which war formerly bought by the 'eater Dept . for a new Ford. The Board left this matter with ir . Harrison to attend to . The Superintendent was also givenauthority to purchase a Ford car for himself. The Board voted to designate to the Superintendent of Public ''eorke the supervision of the following departments . Highways , Town hall , Tree .+arden, Board of Health, Water & Sewer, Parke , Moth, Town Engineer , Inspector of Plumbing, Inspector of Buildings and Police Dept. the Board instructed their clerk to send notice of the eame to the heads of these different departments . The Supt. of Public eorke received but one bid out of fourteen for coal for the Lexington :Buildings , this one namely from the Lexington Coal Lompany . The bid for different kinds of coal was accepted. La-. Stone reported on the McCaffrey case that he had also consulted with kr . Aldrich and Mr. Aldrich doee not want any sewage running into his land . Mr . Stone stated that he thought there was no question but that the water running on the h.cCaf_rey land on to the Aldrich land was polluted as observed by a personal visit to the place . he requested Mr. Bidwell to go ahead with the cave so that he could get the luster ' s report, and then he would take the matter up himself. He stated that O'Connell, Attorney for Henry Y. McCaffr was willing to nettle the claim for a reasonable amount. Mr . Stonestated that lur. Bayley requested hie opinion on the question of slaughter licenses in connection with the appropriation for Slaughter Inspection. he looked the matter up and fount. 43 references in Chapter 94 of the General Laws , and Chapter 111.
