Letter was received from the American Legion Employment Uommittee, in which they ask whether or not the Board had any reaeon for referring back to the Supt. of Public horke the de- cieion on the discharge of Ldward B. O'Connor. They replied that their reason for referring the matter back war that they upheld the decision of the Supt. of Public Forks. Ullr. Cowdrey of Arlington came before the Board to ask that the water be installed in Hill Top Avenue. The Board in- formed him that this matter would come up at the town meeting and nothing could be done until the Board votes on same. The appointment of an Aarersor to succeed r. ��illiam TY. Ave. The Board signed a Warrant for a Town Meeting to be held leiay 7th, 1923, said rIarrant containing article for settlement of Breck-Robinson Uureery Uo claim. %r. S. E. Sears of the F. h. Birch Co. 367 Boylston St. Boston came before the Board to try to urge the Board to give their approval of the signs at the junction of Lincoln 4: School Ste. and at the northwest car. Mass. Ave. & Sylvia St. both signs being 5 X 5 feet metal face signs. advertising Chelmsford singer Ale. It was left with kr. Harrison to view the locatione and report on same. The Board decided to give a hearing on May 15th to E. R. Dix of Cambridge for approval of plan of land on North Hancock St. called Ervirg ton Park. Letter was received from Rilliam Roger Greeley of Somerset ' Road complaining about the gambling allowed on April 19th at the Legion booth- on the Buckman Park. He asserted that the hoard allowed this gambling to go on. The Board. however, on the other hand replied that they did not license this gambling and further 42 more in the future if they are aware of any gambling b6ing done «—+ they will endeavor to stop same. Liet of men eligible for vacations received from the Supt. of Streets was turned over to the Supt. of Public iYorke for , arrangement of same for the men. The Board also voted to place the Town Doctor on the Com- pensation Pay Roll through the office of Elmer A. Lord & Co. The Board also voted to renew fire insurance on $1000 tools in the building of Edward R- Tiara. It was also voted to renew liability policy on the Highway Tractor. This policy expired April 21, 1923. 7.7r. Roes, Supt. of streets carne before the Board with the request that he be allowed to turn in the Ford Truck now used by him and which war formerly bought by the 'eater rept. for a new Ford. The Board left this matter with Lr. Harrison to attend to. The Superintendent was also givenauthority to purchase a Ford ' car for himself, The Board voted to designate to the superintendent of Public `'Yorks the Ouptrvision of the following departments. Highways, Town hall, free -warden, Board of Health, Mater Sewer, Parks, Moth, Town Engineer, Inspector of Plumbing, Inspector of Buildings and Police Lept. '_he Board instructed their clerk to send notice of the same to the heads of these different depostments. The Supt. of Public '+"'orks received but one bid out of fourteen for coal for the Lexinf;ton Buildings, this one namely from the Lexington Coal Company. The bid for different kinds of coal was accepted. Lr. Stone reported on the kcCaffrey case that he had also consulted with kr. Aldrich and ILr. Aldrich does not %rant any sewage running into his land. Lr. Stone stated that he thought there was no question but that the water running on the LcCaf:rey land on to the Aldrich land was polluted as observed by a personal visit to the place. lie requested Pyr. Bidwell to go ahead with the case so that he could get the kaeter's report, and then he would take the matter up himself. He stated that J'Connell, Attorney for Henry 11. Mc Caffr� was willing; to settle the claim for a reasonable amount. iir. Stonestated that Lr. Bayley requested his opinion on the question of slaughter licensee in connection with the appropriation for Slaughter Inspection, He looked the matter up and fount. references in Chapter 94 of the General Laws, and Chapter 111.
