Town Celebrations Committee — Minutes, February 20, 1975 Page 2.
COMMUNICATIONS Mr Fitzgerald reported that he now has a definite
committment from the Motorola Corporation for the use of mobile units
on April 19; type and number are yet not determined; however, the number
which will be most useful to the /Chief Marshal will depend on the ef—
fective range of the individual units. Mr Broderick said that several
most experienced former parade Staff members had indicated to him that
they were not prepared to march this year, the Chief Marshal proposed that
these individuals be asked to serve as communications staff and parade
monitors along the route The ICC agreed enthusiastically
DECORATIONS Mr. Fitzgerald has reviewed the past requirements with the
firm who has traditionally h„ndled decorutions; the 1974 fee for the two
libraries, buildings of the Cary Hall cowries, the Visitors Center and
the reviewing stand was 5275. There was discussion regarding the best
way to. insure th. t bunting would be available and in plaee on the re—
viewing stand. Later, in discussing arrangements for the pest—parade
reception, it was suggested that the ICC might wish to consider either
the use of flags or bunting,or, possibly, the use of the old flags which
Mr. Gaughan is presently storing ..s de,cor.tions for .heritage Hall. We
decisions were made; however Mr Gaughan will inspect the• flags carefully,
with an eye to this possibility Mr Fitzgerald. mentioned that any
additional bunting which the TCC or the LBC thought was necessary in the
area of the reviewing stand, and the roped off area, could be arranged for;
however, the size of this area, and the mount. of bunting required, is
depe.idont upon our rec4pt of a firm estimate of the number of people to
be accommodated from the LBC.
The committee agreed that the Town flag should be carried in the fore=
front of the parades; if flags are used. at Heritage Hall, a. Lexington flag
should. appear -there also.
PARADE PARTICIPANTS: In addition to the Centennial Legion Units and
Minute Men units mentioned under corvespondence, Chief Marshal Broderick
said that he had discussed participation of the Shrine .units at the
6400 Tee with General Wilkinson.
The ICC voted not to invite the Wakefield Red Men (26502.50 foe
is too high, said severed members, who have viewed this unit and feel
that it is net particularly outstanding)
TRANSPORTATION: Mr. Fitzgerald hes located 3 convertables to be used
for White Tricorne Hat recipients. He has discussed bus rental with Mr.
Maloney and quoted a figure of 630 per bus for transportation from the
Heritage Hall assembly area, standby parking(has arranged for same with
Chief Corr) , and return trip from the reviewing stand.
POST PARADE RECEPTION: Mr. Gaughan is still working on catering ir—
rangeitnents; charges for the Hall will be those for custodian( s) and
bartender(s) . Light refreshments should probably be available at the
Hall during the pre—parade assembly time; perhaps coffee and either
cookies or cheese and crackers. NO decision was made
Kevin Doyle commented that the Minute Men still planned to hold
their large post parade reception at the high school. Parking problems
were again discussed.
TRAFFIC AND VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION; The committee agreed that these
matters should be discussed in detail at the February 27 joint meeting.
Respectfully submitted,
Ruth Mitchell, Recording Secretary
