Barnes, Mrs Litchfield, Mr. Fitzgerald, Mrs Mitchell, Mr. Turner Chief Marshal Broderick Bicentennial Director Tarlin MINUTES of January 23 were approved with the following correction and. additions Correction the joint meeting with the Minute Men, Town Manager, Police, and DPW representatives is schedules for 8 00 PM at the joint TCC-LBC meeting, Addition Parade Participants . the unicycle riders must have adult supervision Addition Committee Assignments. . .Mr Fitzgerald will also be responsible for transportation ' CORRES.'ONDENCE Mrs Litchfield has heard from the Merrifield Bus Company via telephone regarding action to be taken on their outstanding bill Chmn Barnes reported that the Air Force Strolling Strings do not; perform at buffet functions Chmn. Barnes asked that Mrs Litchfield res rend. to a letter dated November 19, 1974 in which the Mystic Congregational Church of Mystic, Conn. asked us to share any program materials which we might have found useful in planning Paul Revere's Ride. Mrs Litchfield will refer this group to Robert Marrigan, Captain Commanding, of the Lexington Minute Men. FLOATS: The chairman reported on behalf of Mr. Brenchick that there were now 12 floats confirmed as parade entries They will be contacted by phone regarding a float clinic which will be held at Temple Isaiah on a Sunday afternoon to be determined. Consultation with Mr. Bogk of Parade's By Gondolier will be available for each separate entry. The TCC questioned Mr Tarlin about the note in the Lexington Minute- Man regarding the possible appearance of a horse-draem float to be sent from Loxi.ngton,Kentucky. Nothing is at all 'definite; however the TCC reaffirmed the past rule that horses were not to be allowed in the afternoon parade° The Chamber of Commerce plans to award cash prizes and will engage judges from outside of Lexington The possibility of a trophy was mentioned as being desirable. POST PARADE RECEPTION; The chairman reported en behalf of Mr Gaughan that Heritage Hall would be used for this function, consideration of the Minute Man school for this function has been d: opped, however, it is still being held for possible nae if there should be a pre--parade affair. Mr Gaughan will also i.raveszeg•aee the potential availability of the ICe_nnedy School as either a back-up or an ove:•flow site. 'ARADE PARTICIPANTS Chmax Barnes read to the TCC and then gave to Mr. Broderick, a list of confirmed mailtary participants which had been avail- able at the last JSBCC meeting. In response to a question from Mr. Fitzgerald the committee affirmed the intent of issuing a parade invitation to Norwich University and asked Mr Broderick to check as to whether or not this had been done. Town Celebrations Committee — January 30, 1375 Page 2 Mrs. Litchfield reported that she had letters in hand from the .Dant7ers Drum Carps and from, the Maryland.-Del.awar@ Light Infantry Battalion Both were given tto the Chief Marshal for his attention. She also reported. con— tact with Senator Brookes office regarding-the Marine Corps Band. In response to a question by 'Mr. Turner, Mr Broderick stated that each participating unit would be sent copies of the parade orders and issued a Division assignment well in advance of the parade; routers, however, will not be sent out Bicentennial Director Tarlin commented on pos— sible flexibility which might bo allowed for groups late in requesting participation. REVIEWING -STAND; Chinn, Barnes noted the possible availability of equip— ment to be loaned by Hanscom; ho will ask Mr Flynn to contact a represen— tative of the Lexington Parks Department,as well as Captain Lundcl.uist,to see if suitable arrangemen$s for enlarging the reviewing stand can be made. COMMUNICATIONS; Mr Fitzgerald reported that he had been in. contact with a representative of the Motoroli. Corporation, but that no firm commitment for the use of portable communications equipment had. yet been reached Chmn. Barnes, in giving a brio." review of current first aid planning, noted that a communications link witi the Baytist Church would be desirable, Joint TCC—LBC Meeting This -fleeting began at 8PM and covered plans for the Midnight Ride, the Batti,. Reenactment, reviewed parade assembly plans, and brought the LBC up to de'te on TCC business. It was agreed that full details of both Ride and Battle Reenactment would be- prepared in writing, logistical requirements can then be predicted accurately by Town employees -4 and, if there arc difficulties, the Selectmen, of course, will he the determining body. Discussions sere Bele regarding guests invited to Lexington only, including assembly of these guests, invitations accepted by White Tricorn. Hat recipients, plans for the post—parade reception, and gifts for guests. It was agreed that copies of •ihe LDC publication would be given.
