T'O!a`N CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE
November 13, 1976
PRESENT ; Mr. Brenchick (presiding) , Mrs Litchfield, Mrs. Mitchell,
Mr Flyhn
CORRESPONDENCE: Mrs. Litchfield has written to Chmn. Cole of the
LBC asking that a joint meeting be scheduled for Thursday, November
20th, at 8 .00 p.m. The TCC will meet, as usual, at 7 30 p.m. at
the Visitors Center,
Mrs. Litchfield has also written to Capt. Commanding Daigle
of the Lexington Minutemen to say that a battle reenactment would
be a fitting portion of the 1976 Patriots Day activities.
VETERANS DAY: The TCC reviewed activities of the day and all
agreed that things proceeded smoothly Especially noted was the
appearance of groups of Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Placement
of the loudspeakers was discussed, as vdell as methods for ensuring
that there will be no persons aside from those authorized to speak
allowed on or leaning against the speaker's platform in the future.
A TCC member should. stand alongside during assembly of participants,
since it is difficult to move spectators once ceremonies have
started,
PATRIOTS DAY Mr. Brenchick reported for Chmn. Barnes that it
had not yet been possible for him to speak with the candidate
for Chief Marshal, There was general discussion of ideas for
a parade theme, but no decisions were reached. Mr. Brenchick
noted that float participants needed a fairly broad theme in which
to work, since they were the group most likely to be limited by
topic chosen. The group agreed that the theme should emphasize
a look to the future, rather than place additional emphasis on past
history,
Additional discussion centered around the final draft letter
to inquiring units which was prepared by Mr. Flynn. All agreed
that the covering letter stated the TCC position Clearly.
Respectfully submitted,
Ruth N. Mitchell, Recording Sec'y
