SILC has successfully confronted the major problem in view when it was
founded, --a proposed mid-circumferential highway Subsequently a SILC
initiative became established as an independent entity - The Minuteman
Regional Refuse Disposal Planning Board (MMRRDPB) SILC has also dealt
with such matters as land use, transportation, county organization
Planning advisory and review organizations representative of towns and
citizens groups have now become an established part of the public plan-
ning process For example, there are the Governors Hanscom Task Force
involving four towns , legislators, public entities and citizens groups; ,
and the MMRRDPB involving many towns in a wholly different problem In
each instance the composition and organization of these entities is
specifically oriented to their functions
SILC representatives now believe that future substantive issues can be
met effectively without a continuing geographically defined organiza-
tion Accordingly at a meeting on February 27, 1975, after consultation
with other towns, they voted to disband SILC
