MINUTES OF THE MINUTEMAN REGIONAL VOCATIONAL TECHNICAL SCHOOL DISTRICT

ADMINISTRATION
The meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 8 25 p.m
Minutes of the previous meeting were accepted, with the following
corrections
1 1st page - substitute the following for the 5th paragraph

"There was consensus as to the criteria on which curriculum materials I
would be assessed
1 Content of program
a 4-year goals
b 1-year goals
c 5-week goals
2 Relation to other disciplines or areas
3 Evaluation and assessment of learning achieved
4 Teaching strategies
5 Details of curriculum and educational process as it goes along
1-3 will be submitted to the full committee for formal approval
4-5 will be monitored by the Education and Curriculum Subcommittee and
reported on, as and when appropriate, to the full committee "
2 2nd page - 1st line substitute "mitted in response to the re-
quest for data processing proposals dated"
The Treasurer reported a regular account balance of $4,843 66 and a
construction account balance of $3,933 46
There was consensus on authorizing the Building Subcommittee to proceeed j
to dispose of the house on the site

All computer bids have been formally rejected and the vendors notified
that new, tighter bid specifications will be available May 13 Advertise-
ment for bids will appear in the Boston Globe on May 12 Te bidders' con-
ference will be held on May 15, and bids will be opened on May 22
The Superintendent-Director will extend appreciation for assistance in
preparing the new specifications to Mr Hill of Raytheon

The Committee voted unanimously to award contracts to the following

The Education and Curriculum Subcommittee Chairman announced a meeting
for Tuesday, May 14, at her home, and reviewed the status of curriculum
materials
The Policies Subcommittee would like to hear from committee members on
the subject of admissions procedures and will meet at 8 p m on May 13
at the Supt -Director's to consider this subject
Members requested that they be sent copies of any correspondence of sig-
nificance with residents of their towns
The committee voted unanimously to accept the following sections for the
Policy Manual
Preamble to Section 3 PERSONNEL POLICIES
3.2 17, 3 2 18, 3 2 19 1 , 3 2 19 2 (with addition
"petition the school committee in writing ")
3 2 19 3 (with the addition "when a meeting with the
school committee to discuss ")
3.2 16 "Dismissal" for "Termination"
3.2 20 Civic and Community Affairs
The Superintendent-Director reported on interviews with candidates for
the position of Assistant for Planning and Evaluation The committee
will interview finalist(s) at 7 30 p m. prior to the regular meeting
on May 21 and will convene the meeting at 8 30 p.m. that evening The
committee will pay the candidate's travel expense for the final inter-
view
The Committee voted unanimously to authorize the Superintendent-Director
to obtain a binder on insurance coverage for committee and staff at an
annual rate of $340 for 500,000/1 ,000,000 bodily injury and 1 ,000,000
property damage

Other possibilities will be investigated for the additional coverage
required
On the recommendation of the Superintendent-Director, the committee
voted to employ Ronald Szpila a's a staff teacher of Electronics at an
annual rate of $12,000 commencing May 20; 7 in favor; Ms Smith ab-
staining
Next week LKB is expected to have a preliminary report on the trans-
portation system. Counsel is reviewing the contract proposed by this
firm.
The meeting was adjourned at 10 10 p.m. , to be reconvened in executive
session
