MINUTES of the MINUTEMAN REGIONAL VOCATIONAL TECHNICAL SCHOOL DISTRICT COMMITTEE
n March 19, 1974

The meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 9 30 p m. in the Auditorium.
Eighty per cent of the Minuteman freshman class for September 1974 was selected
by lottery
Minutes of the previous meeting were approved, with the addition of the
following item "In executive session the committee voted unanimously to
authorize the Superintendent-Director to hire a replacement on a full-time
temporary basis for Pat Minty in the business office at $150 a week."
The Treasurer reported a regular account balance of $60,358 83 and a con-
struction account balance of $11 ,448 99
o The Building Committee reported a change order in the amount of $5,581 The
School Committee voted unanimously to award the contract for duplicating equip-
ment to A.B Dick, the lowest bidder for this equipment at $2,596 60
The committee discussed a bonus plan model proposal and then voted unanimously
to accept "3 3 3 Bonus Program" through "overall objectives of the educational
program "
The committee voted unanimously to approve the employment of the following,
effective March 18, 1974, at the annual rates stated
Anita S Coan Student Program Coordinator $11 ,000
Michael A. lovine Staff Teacher-Instrumentation $14,000 IiI
Lawrence M Shapira Staff Teacher-Horticulture $12,000 + $500 stipend-
*starting July 1 , 1974 - for horticultural
maintenance required on weekends and holidays
The Superintendent-Director reported that a $100,000 proposal for a pilot
project in special needs education has been submitted to the state. In about
a month we should hear whether it was accepted and to what extent it might be
funded

The committee voted unanimously to approve the Superintendent-Director's

recommendation to have Dr Harold S Resnick, Associate Professor in Indus-
trial and Vocational Education, Temple University, as a consultant for five
days at a cost of $800 including expenses, to help the staff develop course
outlines
The meeting was adjourned at 10 30 p m , to be reconvened in executive
session
In executive session, the Superintendent-Director recommended that the follow-
ing staff members not be rehired for the coming year
Johanna Baer, Kathryn Diggs, Walter Donovan, Lawrence Witty
The committee voted not to rehire these staff members and that they be noti-
fied of this action 10 in favor; 1 opposed
Also in executive session, the Superintendent-Director recommended the re-
classification of two staff members
Nina Fishman from Staff to Associate Teacher
William Garcia from Senior to Staff Teacher
The committee voted unanimously to reclassify these staff members as recommended
